Hi .. After reading a lot of stuff on this forum. I've finally decided to get my first stereo setup.

In Hyderabad, I've listened to BOSE last week, but wasn't happy with the separation. I seek expert advice at this point.

My Preferences: only Music, no movies
Music Preference: Indian, Soft rock
Room Size: 14' X 12'
Budget : 40K

Having done little research, Marantz, NAD, Cambridge Audio seems to be popular integrated amplifiers. Looking for one of these to drive bookshelf speakers(Would like floorstanders - but difficult at this budget i believe)

Can somebody plz suggest me a decent combination for my requirement. From the research, learnt that Marantz and MA BX2 compliment eachother well. But does this combo fit my budget?

I was trying to PM few Forum Members from Hyderabad, but didn't know how to send a PM. I would be greatly thankful if anybody from Hyderabad can msg me, so that i can take advices on places where i can purchase these stuff.

My contact ajay.kgt (at) gmail or call me at 94404-03734.

Let me know what other things i need to make a good stereo setup. If the budget is little low for a good setup - I can keep upgrading, if so - what are the first things i need to purchase?

I'm going for an audition this Saturday. Let me know what things should i be aware of while going for an audition.

I'm open for used stuff. But would like new speakers.

Few of my close friends travel to Dubai and Singapore frequently - can i get these stuff at a cheaper price? Any idea how cheap(%)?

For limited budget following options are really good:
1. Get used electronic gear with no moving parts (like amplifier). Unlike CD/DVD players having moving parts they are very dependable. Check the Sale section. So in limited budget you can get good amplification.

2. Along with above option also explore on some simple DIYable items. Example Pass B1 pre amplifier. Just go through that thread. It is a preamp which will give you very clean sound on a budget. Some suitable power amp could be added to compliment it.

3. Try to audition as much gear as possible:
a) Carry 3-4 tracks you like the most.
b) Try to go for audition with some one who can guide you but help identify your taste. Try to get in touch with people who have similar listening preference as you and try to listen to their system. They will be best able to guide you as they have gone through same. Believe in what you hear!

Before you do any of the above try to talk to some forum members about your taste of music. First task is to identify your own taste of music. Budgeting etc comes much much later.

What is a popular combo may not work for you! Everyone has very unique listening.

Ajkagz,

Your observation on amp are correct but owning new marantz, nad CA with your budget could not be reachable with your budget. Hence try for some used amp paring with New or used speakers.

SINGAPORE AND DUBAI are some of the best places to buy amp, and sure you can ask your friend to do, they mostly handle the Japanese products like Technics,Yamaha,Onkyo,Pioneer etc which are good VFM.

Try for yamaha AS 500 or AS 700 in singapore, hope they would be worthy pick.

You can choose Whrafdale or Usher speakers within 10-20K to pair with Yamaha, or after receiving the yamaha can open new thread askinf for suggestion.

I have listed Sonodyne SiA 310 for sale. For the rest of your budget you could get a good book shelf or even a floor stander from Sonodyne.

which bose did you listen to. the 301's are pretty good imo for the price point its at
