My last hi-fi system gave me wonderful performance all these years. Got it back in 2000 at Rs. 16.500. It was a Sony product. Sadly after all these years it's starting to give me some problems.

I'm thinking about getting a new one. Like always, I'm a Sony man, and intend on getting another Sony product.

I have my eyes on a certain system. It's power output is 1200 RMS. It would be nice if you wonderful people could please have a look at the system and give me some advise.

Here's the system - http://www.sony.co.in/electronics/hi-fi-systems/mhc-gzx33d

Have you heard the system in Sony shop? Don't go by the big wattage numbers. They are a marketing thing. Try to listen to it and take a call.

90% of the members here must have started off with a Sony product, however, Sony does not make its systems like they used to. If you can get your system serviced, then I would suggest you do that. Else apart from this sony, there are various other options you can have for maybe slightly more money to give a much better system, with some added flexibility too. An example could be a stereo amp paired to a nice pair of bookshelf speakers. The amp could have multiple input options to connect additional components.

Dear friend I have used four mini- components system 1. Sansui 2. Sony GRX88 3.Aiwa NSX 999mkII and 4. Sony MHC GN88D. Now I have Denon AVR, Pioneer BDO and Boston Acoustic A360 speakers. From my past experience I can say that no mini-components system can match with dedicated amplifier and speakers. I will suggest you for your music need , just check hi-fi Mart . They have discounted price amplifier and speakers may be within your budget. If still you are on very tight budget then go for Boston Acoustic A26 speakers and Denon , Marantz, NAD amplifier from pre-own section or from olx.

Hi bublu,

Agree with the above comments and suggestions....you need to look at dedicated amps, speakers etc. and realise what you have been missing out.....audition and then purchase!

Hi Bublu,

As suggested by other Forum Members, you should not go by Marketing traps such as Big Watt and Company. But prior to that you need to decide what you want, i.e you want a Stereo System for pure Music listening or you want 5.1/7.1 AV Receiver( for both Music and Movies).

If you want to buy 5.1/7.1 AV receiver then, there are few models from Sony which are award winners. But unfortunately they are not available in India. If you are so passionate about Sony then you need to get any of those Sony AV receiver from USA.

Thanks,
Sujit

Hi Bublu, The above comments are exactly true, but not known to many Common public. Sony has good AVR but only in foreign countries. Since you are more inclined towards music, it is recommended to have a stereo amp and speakers. Please give your budget and type of music listening so that our forum members will guide you properly. It's very important to know the above because the price starts roughly from 40000 and goes above upto 40 lakhs for music system. It's like having Maruti Car or Rolls Royce, Bentley etc., You need to identify your music requirements and audition different systems to match your hearing taste.
