New Amp Advice

Brother, if you do not play METAL how will you know whether the gear is able to play it well or not, I always carry my assorted collection with me, 90% of it being Hard Rock/Metal & trust me no shopkeeper/sales exec will grudge you listening to your CD's. If they do then you know then & there that you will Never Ever visit/do any purchase from that shop/dealer:cool:

I heard the 710AE paired with a wide variety of speakers (the dealer had a lot of choice) & it did not impress me with any of the speakers paired with it - all the time listening to you know what;)

Thanks man really appreciate your reply.:clapping: I will do as you say :)

My current setup - Technics SUV7 80W 8 ohms & PACE2050 50W 8 ohms connected to Pace Floor standing speakers (Each Cabinet has two 12 '' drivers 50/60W (not sure which make maybe Philips) & two Peerless Dome tweeters 80W). Two way Speaker

The PACE Amp by itself is not able to drive these speakers. I have to use an Eq to boost the level via the Pace.

These symptoms indicate speakers to be the bottleneck in this combination. If Eq makes the sound better, it has to be weakness in the speaker that the equalizer balances for. Unless the amplifier has specific problems such as sudden degradation due to some capacitor going burst, I'll strongly suggest replacing speakers.

I too have a PACE2050 amplifier driving Yamaha 7390 speakers. The amplifier beats speakers by a fair margin. I did some distortion analysis on the amplifier to find it to be of decent quality. The amplifiers quoted by you are any time better than PACE, but I believe that you should spend your budget on speakers and upgrade amplifier only if the combination doesn't improve sound at all.

I just wanted to know did anyone audition or has a Denon 1510

I have the Denon PMA2000ivr paired with Usher MD1. I have not heard the 1510.
The PMA2000 is quite a capable amp. and I have tried it with speakers of various ranges upto the Usher and there are no drivabitility issues.
The Strengths of the PMA2000 is smooth , reasonably detailed sound with slight roll off at the top.Lush, tubey and very musical as long as you dont push it too hard.
Contrary to general perception of it being powerful, I have found the Denon revealing details at lower volumes unobtrusively as compared to other mid-fy amplifiers which generally need to be pushed a little harder for similar effect.
Mind you, the Ushers are very revealing of the amplification and I have heard them paired with amplifiers right upto Symphonic Line and am still not yet ready to let go of the Denon .
The 1510 should have some of these qualities.
Cheers
Himadri

Hi

You didnt understand what I wrote earlier

``The PACE Amp by itself is not able to drive these speakers. I have to use an Eq to boost the level via the Pace. Technics no complains but the Amp died recently``

The Eq does not make the sound better. The Eq has got a gain control so I boost the gain and results in more output. The 50 W Pace Amp sounds very good on the speaker even directly. In fact I have heard most of the high end Audio and suprised to find the Pace really good. You are right about the quality. In fact it sounds better without the Eq more fuller but the output is too low when comared to the power of Technics SUV7 on the same speakers. Thats the reason I require a more powerful Amp. I have played Bass guitar on this speakers. Trust me they are very powerful. But 50W is not sufficient to drive them. Yes the Technics at 80W did a perfect Job. I tested the MARANTZ PM7004 excellent sound, smooth vocals, clarity in sound. Amazing. But it lack the Bass the Techincs and PACE gave me. Finally I going to test the Nad 356 80W on my Speakers. The speaker a bottleneck, you must be joking. I have played live music for 9 year and have heard all towers and book shelves none impressed me. Except of one JBL Studio speakers. You cant compare 4 x 12" drivers in your living room with any 6" to 8" drivers of the towers or book shelves. These are not PA drivers. The Bass hit you with the Technics. I read that Nads are bass rich amp and being a bassist thats what I want. The Technics I will try to get it repaired from the contact you guys were kind enough to suggest. Let see..... Will update you guys for your knowlege what happens finally.

Are vintage amp such better than new ones?
Getting a used SUV-707 for 9k. Is it worth spending? Only problem is no remote with vintage amps.

Hi
In my opinion yes they are really better than anything in the market today. No remote hey what the heck. They are power monsters provided they are well kept. Specially Technics products. Besides the Technics Amp I have two Technics DD turntable running in top condition. No other Brand of TT comes close to the Technics. I have the Garrad 301 but its sh%t compared to the King of the Wheels of Steel - Techincs. I have also heard a Vintage SANSUI Amp. what a master piece . The sound blew my brains. WOW

News amps are over rated in power. In my opinion they are design for Bookshelves and towers (thats what you get today) not power monsters floor standing 12" drivers you use to get years back. I have done a hard study and Nad seems a good technology. Nad have assured me that I would not be disappointed with the power.

Re: New Amp Advice (NAD has Landed)

Hi All,

As my Techincs SUV7 cannot be repaired as of now, some diodes are not available. Akshay is still trying but don't know how long.

Now for the Announcement ............:yahoo:
I have finally purchased the NAD 356BEE and man it matched my 12" drivers like Brownie and ice cream. WOW. Very powerful sound, high quality neutral sound with uncompromising distortion free sound at about 75% of the volume blasting.
Disco at HOME :lol::lol::lol: Was very tempted to try full.

Man I am very Happy. The CD sound awesome with tone defeat. The Lps with Bass & Treble adjusted accordingly sound beautiful.

Guys I tell you the towers or the bookshelves would never be able to take this powerful sound and this volume. When I wrote to the company they assured me that power driver will give you that power to drive the most complicated speakers and it will driver my 12" floor standers with easy. They were  right. Thanks NAD .
THE (KING) TECHNICS IS DEAD LONG LIVE THE (KING) :licklips: NAD

Hey many thanks very nice of you. My closes pal has also offered to pay the entire cost. In fact he was the one who gifted me the amp free years back. Friends like you are the best. :D Yes the Amp is with Akshay, looking for 8 diodes which are not available. He told me I have wait dont know how long to locate the Diodes. Once if the amp starts then he would replace all capacitors, few transistors and upgrade to opamp circut with Burbrown opamp.

Lets see and keep my fingers crossed. By the way there is a Technics Amp for sale on the web - Mumbai for 15000/- 124w per channel. If the Nad failed I was considering this Amp. I you want I will locate the link
Thanks man for your offer
