Dusshera Greetings to all fellow members! this is my 1st post in this forum.
i have recently been a proud owner of the new 42ld460 lcd tv from LG.
there are not many reviews about this TV on the web and hence i thought i would share my experience with the TV with others.
please note that i am no expert in testing various modes on TV nor am i an Enthusiast. i am more of a Budget buyer and like to simply plug and play.
i was looking out for the following features in my TV:
- should be able to connect to my PC for gaming and movies
- should be big enough for viewing from 8-9 feet
- budget was around 40k
also, i had planned on getting a media player to hook up to the TV for my wife and kid to watch movies without switching on the PC. Budget was around 6-8k for media player.
initially i had zeroed down on the LG 42pj350 and the Panasonic 42X20 as both were around the 36-38k budget. but they weren't Full HD and they were Plasmas. i was not too comfortable about using them for my PC.
then i came across the LD460 model at Maharashtra TV center at Worli, and the owner also gave good reviews about the set. he quoted me a price of 46k which was a bit above my budget. i booked it on the 10th of Oct and it was delivered and wall mounted on the 12th.
all in all, i have been mighty pleased with this set as it has given me a lot of pleasant surprises.hyeah: as i said earlier, there wasn't much reviewed of this set and i blindly jumped in to it.
- the extra 6k spent on this tv was well justified as there in no need for me to buy the media player anymore. the USB port plays all the formats that I normally use. to be precise: .mkv, .m2ts, .avi(divx). :clapping: i can connect a pen drive or a portable hard disk and use the TV remote to play all the videos. super feature for my Wife or Kid to use. it also plays mp3s and picture files.
- another sweet surprise was that this TV has a digital audio out. i bought a TOSLINK cable to try out this feature. connected it to the TV and the other end to my Yamaha receiver and muted the TV speaker and VOILA! 5.1 channel sound from my Yamaha speakers. this feature worked not only with the USB movies but also with TATA SKY.:yahoo:
in the past one week i have seen just 1 movie on this set and it was for my 4 year old kid. i saw the 720p rip of How to Train your Dragon. it was a super experience watching it on a 42" screen (i previously owned a 22" screen). we really enjoyed the movie.
next on the list is the Bourne series!!!
take care.
Vishtish.
