Dusshera Greetings to all fellow members! :)this is my 1st post in this forum.

i have recently been a proud owner of the new 42ld460 lcd tv from LG.

there are not many reviews about this TV on the web and hence i thought i would share my experience with the TV with others.

please note that i am no expert in testing various modes on TV nor am i an Enthusiast. i am more of a Budget buyer and like to simply plug and play.

i was looking out for the following features in my TV:
- should be able to connect to my PC for gaming and movies
- should be big enough for viewing from 8-9 feet
- budget was around 40k

also, i had planned on getting a media player to hook up to the TV for my wife and kid to watch movies without switching on the PC. Budget was around 6-8k for media player.

initially i had zeroed down on the LG 42pj350 and the Panasonic 42X20 as both were around the 36-38k budget. but they weren't Full HD and they were Plasmas. i was not too comfortable about using them for my PC.

then i came across the LD460 model at Maharashtra TV center at Worli, and the owner also gave good reviews about the set. he quoted me a price of 46k which was a bit above my budget. i booked it on the 10th of Oct and it was delivered and wall mounted on the 12th.

all in all, i have been mighty pleased with this set as it has given me a lot of pleasant surprises.:ohyeah: as i said earlier, there wasn't much reviewed of this set and i blindly jumped in to it.

- the extra 6k spent on this tv was well justified as there in no need for me to buy the media player anymore. the USB port plays all the formats that I normally use. to be precise: .mkv, .m2ts, .avi(divx). :clapping: i can connect a pen drive or a portable hard disk and use the TV remote to play all the videos. super feature for my Wife or Kid to use. it also plays mp3s and picture files.

- another sweet surprise was that this TV has a digital audio out. i bought a TOSLINK cable to try out this feature. connected it to the TV and the other end to my Yamaha receiver and muted the TV speaker and VOILA! 5.1 channel sound from my Yamaha speakers. this feature worked not only with the USB movies but also with TATA SKY.:yahoo:

in the past one week i have seen just 1 movie on this set and it was for my 4 year old kid. i saw the 720p rip of How to Train your Dragon. it was a super experience watching it on a 42" screen (i previously owned a 22" screen). we really enjoyed the movie.

next on the list is the Bourne series!!!

take care.

Congrats!!

how is the picture quality and sound
post some screenshot of the set ..

Mate, congratulations and thanks for sharing your experience. I am sure some of our amateur users on the forum will be able to relate to you and will have inputs for their decision making during purchasing a new TV.

Good to know that this LG plays mkv, m2ts and also has optical out.
Given the price and features and size sure sounds like a good VFM.
Congrats and enjoy your new buy.

BTW is it HD ready or Full HD?.

Hey congrats on you purchase

I am also planning to buy LCD and LD460 is one of my option, other option is Samsung 40" Series 5.
Can you suggest the plus points of LG and wat about its Sound quality as I am currently using BPL and its sound is really bad.

And if you can share at price did u get this.

I assume you are using a BPL CRT TV. If you find the sound of that bad then don't expect any better from an LCD, unless it happens to be an LG Jazz or the newly released Samsung LCD with 800W.

46.5k was the quote with free TATA SKY. didn't take the tatasky and tok discount of 500. Final quote was 46k. I am very bad at bargaining and didn't persuade the dealer into any further price cuts or freebies. croma is offering this set at 55k so I felt 46k is also a good deal.

sd picture quality is good if seen from say 6-8 feet. I have watched colors and animal planet and the pq is good.

Sound output from the tv is also good but I have connected it to my yamaha HT so haven't really checked the tv sound fully.

Carry a few videos with you on a pendrive and take a demo @ any showroom. tht ways you will get a 1st hand experience wiht this set for it's pq and sq.

Many congratulations dear!!! :clapping:

I myself am very much inclined towards this set & will love to know the following from you...

(1) So, you got this for 46K. Or did you manage to lower the price further?
(2) Did the seller offer any freebies?
(3) How is the normal cable/DTH/SD viewing experience?
(4) How is its own sound system? 300 W PMPO - how good/bad is it?

Thanks in advance for your valuable feedback. THis is truly very helpful.

Regards

FULL HD.

News channel scroll bars are good, no blurring visible. Checked on cnbc and ndtv profit.

Sports looks at bit pixelated and not sharp. Didn't quite like star sports which was showing a football match. However espn and dd sports were much better.

LA32C590H1R.... It is listed on the Samsung website so should be available. Also it is Diwali season when everyone is out shopping. So why would Samsung miss the opportunity to sell a few units by delaying launch. Listed price is 42,900/-. MOP might be slightly less. Sounds like a very good deal. Go for it and post a review with pictures.
PS: Since you are in Delhi availability should not be a problem.

@Shredder
I called up few shops in Delhi, but they are not having this model(Samsung 32"C590). They told me this model is not available with them for last 1-2 months.
And I couldnt find much review about dis particular model.
So do you have any idea abt the PQ & SQ of this model. Also the Samsung site says this model is having only 50hz motion. So will there be any problem in watchin high speed videos and other stuffs.

Actually you are mentioning PMPO,Real sound output(rms) of this model is 20watts only.

I was little confused which one to choose between LGLD460 and SONY EX400. SONY is 2 to 3 k more than the LG, but the USB option is not that much good. Apart from that both the picture quality appears to be equally good comparing to the Samsung 530 series.

After reading your review, my mind fixed to LD460. What is the best price we can give for this model of 32". Any body knows about this. LG Shoppe gives at 33,500. Is it a better price.

Regards
Ramanan.

It would be a great help if you tell us your location. 33.5K is on the higher side. In Delhi it retails for about 30K. But again it depends on your location. If you happen to be in a place like Shimla then it's a good price.

Hey... I am based in Delhi and am planning to buy 42LD460 in a couple of days, only thing that amazes me is price as quoted by our friend above 46k. In delhi seller is offering for 52k (final price).
Is it worth Buying ?
