Hi All.

After purchasing my AVR in Nov'14, i finally bought my speakers this Sept and completed my HT.

I bought Onkyo THX-636 avr from Bangkok, during family vacation in Nov'14.
After coming back, i had set my eyes on wharfedale diamond BS and this year again, somehow another vacation was planned and i bought the complete speaker set-up from Bangkok from the same HT Shop.:yahoo:

Front: Wharfedale Diamond 122 BS
Center: Wharfedale Diamond 101C
Surround: Wharfedale Diamond 210 BS
Atmos: Onkyo SKH-410 ( mounted on the wall behind the front BS)

It was just me, my wife & my son(infant) and thankfully, no issues or challenges faced from Customs.

Onkyo 636 can be either used as 7.1 or 5.1.2(Atmos) and i decided to for Atmos set up.
My complete system was missing one very important piece:: THE SUB

Post my AVR & Speakers,& after spending endless hours here, i decided to go with SVS PB-1000

I bought SVS PB-1000 from Mr Pradeep,Sound Lounge,NDelhi

Bought the bandridge speaker cables and completed the entire connection on my own.
Finally after all the struggle & pain, i powered on the system, upgraded the AVR software(to enable Atmos) and saw MI 5 this weekend and was overly impressed by the performance of the complete system. SVS rocksss:clapping: Have kept the Sub Volume at 50% and my room windows, doors were shaking like anything .
*Room Size: 22ft x 14ft.

Though i have used Onkyo's AccuEQ for setting up the speakers, I am still struggling with the best settings of the Speakers and the Sub, Sub was not even detected in AccuEQ :annoyed:, had to manually change the sub to "ON" in the system.

Atmos speakers, can be either placed on the top of the front BS or can be wallmounted. I have currently wall-mounted them.
On the Atmos performace, i used the original Dolby Atmos Demo disk to check the atmos effects and i am not yet fully convinced with the same:confused:May be something to do with my settings.

Still a long way to go, lot more to explore in the AVR and will watch my 2nd movie this weekend :yahoo:

Hi

Congrats on your system.....technically when devices are new, you need to give it some more time for break in (20 -50 hours) which helps in AVR and Speaker synch.....optimal performance is obtained......auto setups sometimes don't yield actual results as the rooms we use have a lot of other things ...not empty like a demo room with the dealer.....

Tweak the settings which appeal to you...the sub volume should be kept at 50% and adjust the levels on your AVR for the sub as well as other speakers in order to blend to your listening positions and area.....

Most important read the owner's manual so that you understand how you can best tweak your AVR for the best performance.....take your time..dont rush...all the best

Problem is not with your settings but with the format. Dolby Atmos is not yet proven to be a flawless object-based audio format.

wait until you get a dts:x upgrade for your AVR. I would personally not bet much on atmos.
Nevertheless your avr is a great piece of tech and will serve you well. Congrats
