is there any difference in picture and sound quality of of oppo 93 and 95, can
you tell me where i can get it in India or what is the best and cheap method to import.

95 is optimized for stereo music, and that is the main difference. Do you have any idea of the budget you would need for these products? Unless you are looking at spending 50K and above, do not even look at these products.

Secondly, if you are interested in just Blu-Ray playing and DVD playing, there are a large number of other players that are available for under 20K that will perform very well. The premium that Oppo demands for their products is slowly being eroded by players from Pioneer, Panasonic, Samsung, LG and other companies.

Define your requirements, your budget, and then decide how you want to go.

Cheers

@Bhupender If 37K odd Rupees sounds good for a new Oppo BDP 93 , you can check out the Amazon.com web site which delivers to your home a new American version player for $705/-(includes shipping +Import taxes). Next visit ebay.com and order for yourself a Mod kit costing $30/- shipping's another $15/- , sit back and wait for the both to arrive .Once both land at your doorstep ,plug the Mod kit ,either internally or externally ( without opening the set ) USB to RS232 port . This 5 min job makes it Region free (ABC) + DVD 0-9.

Amazon.com are authorized to sell new Oppo 93 from Oppodigital.com ( the Oppo BDP 95 is not on their site ) Which probably means there is a one year warranty on the Oppo 93 (dont know who does the repairing here if something happens to the machine in that period)
Globaleasybuy.com (ebay.in) sells Oppo 93 for 47k and the Oppo 95 for 97K both are region free and the cost includes shipping and import taxes .
whether the cheaper Mod kits would work efficiently I don't have a clue but haven't seen any complaints posted on the web either . The very apparent difference between the more expensive and the cheaper version of the Mod kit is a slightly tortuous way for the user to change Regions on the remote in the later version.
I have ordered the Mod kit and the player,Oppo 93 , from ebay/Amazon about 2 days back

thanks for reply, i want region free or region A player least to play movies purchased from amazon, my only aim to get good picture and sound quality if i
get it at less amount then why should i spend such a large amount on oppo, please suggest

No doubt Oppo players are considered the standard in their space but for them to shine as music players, then you should have atleast a mid-fi system with good placement and sources. Otherwise you can use any other brand and get similar performance.

For TV, as VCR has mentioned, there are a plethora of options without breaking the bank. Dont forget the cables however!

i'm thinking about the following for my home theater-
1. onkyo nr-609
2. monitor audio rx-6 or dali zensor 5 5.1 plz suggest which one better
3. oppo 93 modded to play movies from amazon or plz suggest other option

please suggest other option that can make better home theater than this

I am using onida bdp and if your display/ avr are good, you don't need anything else for watching movie. Spend your money wisely. Though I have yet to do a comparison with Oppo in the chain, I am quite satisfied with blu-ray performance of this onida. So a sony should be fine.

Hi,
As others suggested what about the site world-import.com. Region free and code free oppo 93 available. just check it out.

just an example how things are at this point of time

Panasonic DMP BD-75
one can find brand new region A player in US at around $100

Now region free player

world-import $259
Bombay electronics $265
220 electronics is also close

so to me its just waste of money, buy region A & B players separately
the story doesn't end there- sourcing BDs are difficult task, ebay.com.ebay.co.uk,amazon.com,amazon.co.uk - in al of them average BD costs around 900/- and a agonizing wait of a month

thats all about currently Blu rays in India

You may be one of the few HFV members with a Oppo BDP-95, Why dont you write a detailed review of the player?
