For our fellow FM's i just browsed through our forum sections and find the LCD/LED/ or Plasma's are reportedly failing with one issue or another either during warranty or immediately after the warranty ends or few months after warranty ends.
Its unfortunate see such state of affairs in our so called Television series irrespective of the brands/models.

Everyone knows that from past couple of years (should we say from year 1999 onwards) manufacturers does little (or may be very little) on the quality control!! All those money which are drained on TV to get a wonderful experience does not last even for few years!

I have just compiled some - which may be use to FM's who would like to go through once before buying a new TV. (I am not propagating a negative image. But a one-time information what to look at before you open your wallet!!)

NOTE: Those reported above are only products brought from India. The others (out-side) India are not listed here, which did have problems too (but ofcourse the percentage is very less).

The list reads too many of Samsung product issues. Oh!! I was one of those Samsung victims (of LCD) earlier!
At one point-of-time i was scouting for a new CRT TV instead of these new technology. But unfortunately almost all the showroom/dealers do not have any CRT's!

So i can think of is, no reliable TV (LCD/LED/Plasma's)!

Is there an option of having a TV tuner card (or similar), Projector, amp/speakers to take it forward. All these components in a budget affair! Or a better option to run away from LCD/LED/Plasma's!?

Great job @sgmane to compile all the threads in one place with various issues...

More than a dozen threads with various issues .... I think extended warranty is the best way to get 3 yrs peaceful time.. And beyond that, it would be pure luck if the TV lasts long :)

Now i wonder what will be the lifespan of these models? 2yrs?!!! (1yr warranty standard)
A wonderful marketing strategy for manufacturers to mint money again. Probably a time to look out for CRT used one's!!!

Given the build quality and available array of TV models...the best option for the common man is to look out for warranty and required features / performance expected out of a TV.

I mean firstly everyone of us was waiting to get a nice flat panel @ our homes to ofcourse compliment the dcor and competition as in who has the best...more than half of us believe that we should be better than our neighbour......."Neighbour's Envy..Owner's Pride!" Only a few of us really evaluate the TVs in the market and make the appropriate purchase....now the latest gimmick I see is the ads that come on TV...Known brands that make the largest sized LED or 3D TV.....some of us get easily conned as we have the tendency to own the best and the biggest....the room size does not matter....Bhada hai tho Better hai is the mantra today....

I personally feel and a few others would agree with me that Toshiba is a good value for money....required features and connectivity coupled with 3 years warranty is something what suits the common man....even suits me....although I can afford to purchase big brands...I would not like to see my hard earned money going down the drain with some technical issue / panel failure that crops up after 1/2 years of use....

For those who are conscious about high PQ...there is Sharp Quattron series which does very good justice and tags at affordable rates in the market bagged with 3 years warranty...end of the day the consumer needs to be protected and enjoy the product he / she uses.

Good effort, certainly. My 2 cents on this :

Also need to look at the volumes of sets sold and defects per set. Samsung may have more defects but they also sell huge volumes same is the case for other manufacturers. Lot of folks may have an issue but may never know or report it, as everyone would not come here or be well versed with technology.
