Owner/Expert view on Samy 51e8000

The Samsung 51E8000 is one powerful device and gives out impressive pictures from most sources. I got it for our living room last week as dad watches sports on Airtel HD and mom regular TV serials. Occasionally some movies, as we use my HT for that. I must say i was pretty impressed with the GT50,ST50 and the E8000. Dad was influenced by the tab2 and the extra 1inch on the Samsung. Moreover there was some doubts aboiut Panny service in chennai , few friends complained about the service being lousy. . Thus the deal was struck and we made the purchase.

After almost a week of viewing i am quite happy with the purchase. Out of the 4 pairs of 3D glasses given 1 did not work and samsung replaced it promptly. The movie mode is best suited as i found the standard very bright. I have calibrated it to my requirement and find it excellent under regular lighting. I really dont care much for 3D and will not be using that feature much but the kids may watch a few of the 3D blu rays.

The 51E8000 is an excellent TV and the SMART TV internet works well if u wanna use it. Personally i prefer using my DELL 17inch for all internet related work. But i prefer the quality of the Epson projector anytime to watch movies on my 166 inch sized screen!

Can anyone please confirm which model of the tablet is Samsung offering with the TV? The Samsung advertisement mentions the older Galaxy Tab 7 whereas here our friends are reporting that Samsung is offering the newer Tab 2 in 7".

Also, are some buyers being offered the Airtel HD STB too?

I must also add here that the delivery,installation and service support from Samsung has been top notch. Makes you want to buy from them.

Thats really good. When I bought my 51 in plasma from samsung, it went kaput in 10 days. I really had to threaten them with a court case and what not to get my refund. It took 3 months.

Demo-ed e8000 Plasma TV.Its really a nice TV and has good PQ. The display was really good and it was very bright even though the showroom was well lit. Good colors when you tweak the settings. 3D wasn't that good though the sales guy showed Samsung video. 3D glasses were a little flimsy too.

Price is still quoted at 95k with Bajaj Fin offering 8k for yearly warranty[extended]

lets see if I am able to get Panasonic else, its gonna be Samsung.

Isn't the tv offered at 84k or something? I remember answering one thread where I said that 6k more is worth paying for, for e8000 over e550.

Hi to all.

thanks a lot for this wonderful thread on samsung 51e8000. i agree with you guys completely regarding pq and vfm both of which are important for me while buying a expensive flat paneltv

after seeing the demo and going through the complete thread i am practically more inclined towards e8000 than the gt50 since i think gt is overpriced and the brand value of panasonic is not comparable to samsung.

finally i decided to check the cost of a two year extended warranty for the e8000 and upon enquiring at the customer care number i got confirmed replies ( one from the customer care executive and reconfirmed by the senior service manager ) samsung does neither give extended warranties nor offer amc for any of their plasma models.

this has again put me into a fix.

can any of you reconfirm this. also if any of you already have taken extended warranties on the 51 e8000 kindly let me know from where and the cost for 2 year extention.

any help in this regard will be highly appreciated.

Checked out the Panasonic brand store today - they said no stock of any 42 or 50 from ST50 upwards. Stock expected around 20th Nov!! If this is what they are doing in the festive season then it looks like they don't want customers. Will be checking out the E8000 now.

I picked a demo piece of 50gt50 myself which the Panasonic brand shop told me to enjoy till they get new piece to replace. How cool is that!

Devi international , jayanagar branch seems to have the stocks. Check with them.
