Re: Owners Thread of Samsung Plasma 43E490/470 - Reviews, Settings & Features Discuss

I just found out that the free BDP does not support ts format videos ( mainly recorded from STBs) and more worse does not have a volume control. The latter is really a shame. The volume control buttons on the remote actually controls the volume of the TV.

What spk system u r using?

It is a sony 2.1 system with no remote. why?

Becoz I have SONY D8 2.1 and I am also facing this problem because of in absence of 3.5mm headphone jack. Already wrote this issue in this thread.

Are you watching from Cable or DTH ?. If you are watching from DTH you can control the volume through the DTH volume control. Same is the case with media player ( Asus oplay). But when connecting the BDP there is no volume control in the BDP and the TV's volume control has no effect on the audio out.

No bdp has volume control unless it is an htib.

Nope. Not true at all. Only those VCDP's and DVDP's will have volume control that have built in ampliefier and connection for speakers.

No player of whatever kind will have a volume control otherwise.

Friends, as you know this TV has only two HDMI ports, to which the BDP and a STB are connected. Now I need to connect two more devices. Is there any cheap way to connect more devices ( some thing like the USB hubs for PCs).

How is this one found on ebay. Is it reliable ?
HDMI Switch - 3 in One HDMI Switcher Adapter Box- Multi Device - HD Splitter | eBay

But it says Note: Not compatible with HDMI output devices without power adapter like satellite receiver.. What does this mean ?

Yes. It is reliable but inconvenient. Inconvenient in the sense that you have to manually switch between devices.

As regards to the last statement (Note), no idea what it really means. You should contact the seller.

It is still more convenient than plugging and unplugging from the back of the TV or device. Any idea of an automatic switcher or a swithless hub.

Automatic switcher will be unnecessarily expensive. And I don't know how it will work if it receives signal from multiple inputs at the same time.

hi all:

this tv has 15A plug. So should I plug it into 5A outlet by using some converter ? can this be long term solution ? one of my friend is doing it but his is 43 whereas I will be getting 51 so from power consumption point of view, will there be any risk ?

Owners specially: Please throw light on how you have set it up ?

There is no risk. The tv does not consume more than 3A and you can safely connect to a 5A socket.

Re: Owners Thread of Samsung Plasma 43E490/470 - Reviews, Settings & Features Discuss

thank you manish. The SD channels are almost as good as the HD ones. Obviously the resolution upscaler does a good work in this piece. I am also beginning to notice that the red's and yellow's are a bit saturated. Soccer vieweing experience is awesome, but that is something probably generic to all plasmas; isn't it.

It can come almost close to Samsung E490/Panasonic X, XT etc with the right settings and picture tweaking. Still getting into that game so will take time. The set does not heat up significantly even after a few hours of use which is a positive. The rear of the panel remains comparitively cool to touch even after a few hours. The power adaptor used with this set is the 5 amps one and not the 15 amps one that comes with the E450/470/490.

Warranty on this PA4520 is 1+4 years which is possibly the best in the industry. Cost for the four year warranty if taken together at time of purchase is 14K for the 42 PDP/LED models. If the yearly AMC route is taken then the cost comes to around 4K/annum.
