Hi

(Ok, Am editing it to 2011. i was thinking similiar to the car releases eg. 2012 make can be available in 2011)

Is anyone aware of the 2011 plasma models gonna be released/already released this year, that are better than 42" v20?

I observed that V20 42" model is reduced from 74K to 54K. The shopkeeper doesnt have any idea of any newer models coming into this space.

I am zooming in on this model unless someone point out that there is a better one already available in the market or gonna come soon.

please enlighten me guys.

Thanks for your time.

2012? Even the 2011 models are not yet fully in India. 65VT30 was launched recently, *GT30 are still missing.

V20 is 2010 model. Highest in the lineup.
It is being discounted because of 2011 models and not 2012 models.
These will not be around when the 2012 models come out IMO. It is quite sometime before ANY 2012 models will hit India.

Babu, is the v20 freely available at 54k in chennai? Is it the least price or any better deals? I feel its a great tv for that kind of price or even higher.

So can i still take up 42" v20 ignoring 2011 models like st30 and gt30. I am thinking if there is no much upgrade in PQ, black levels, viewing experience i can do that.

Girias store in tambaram has one, which i checked out. He can give delivery to any place in chennai.
54k price is what is informed to me. i havent further negotiated on this.
I didnt check on how many pieces he has in his stock.

Yeah, i saw the reviews and feel its good tv. but want to check out if any newer models in this series is out and if its worth buying st30 etc. No one has not given concrete answer to this yet.

I guess it might be a demo piece. Please do check this out. The current range of top most model in 2D is P42U30D. Even i was keen on V20D, but am not able to get any boxed piece in Bangalore.

The top end 2D only model is G30 with NeoPD + features entire suite of VT30 (except 3D). Pana is for some reason not launching in india...it is launched only in Europe region

So as of now the top end 2D model available in india is P42U30D. I am not keen on 3D. Any idea when would we be able to get G30 in india?

If it will be of any help, the V20 will beat U30 anyday by a huge margin. For the same price, they dont even compare. V20 is atleast 2 entire steps above.

From the 2010 lineup V20 > G20 >> U20.

hi, if you are not interested in 3D, then you can blindly go for the best 2D tv in the market............V20!!! do not even compare the U series to V series. From the 2010 models, V series are the top with the neo pdp panel which give you that magic deep black levels. U series do not have neo pdp panels. you can read more on neo pdp panels : Revolutionary NeoPDP Technology | 2010 Asia | VIERA | Plasma&LCD TV | Panasonic Global

all the best!!!

Where do we get P42V20D for the same price of P42U30D in Bangalore? :)

I could not agree more. But am not getting P42V20D in Bangalore. Couple of weeks back Croma, Koramangala had a demo piece. i.e the nearest i got to a P42V20D in B'lore.

I dont know. Some bangalore members should be able to help.

But, If you are after the U30, you should have a look at the samsung 50" (PS51D550). It should be around 65k and has 3D and is 50 incher. Only high end panasonics beat sansumg by any margin. U30 is NOT high end.

I think the primary difference from 2d perspective, is that the 51d550 has no AR filters, so if you have a bright room or cannot control lighting it may not be a good idea. The AR in the v20 are quite good same is the case with the st30, which too has excellent AR.

Hard to find the 42v20 in Bangalore, but you maybe lucky. I heard its available in Mumbai and Chennai if you are ok with the trip.

Thanks for the reply. In 2010 models as you said V20 is the best in the business.
Now that 2011 model st30 is available in market, i am comparing v20 vs st30 in 42" sizes. which one is best , considering 15k being the diff.

babu21,

what is the pricing you got for 42V20 and 42ST30?....

I think you are comparing wrong models..don't get me wrong..
42v20 is not available freely and if available , quality is questionable..
as you are ready to spend 72k , ideally your comparison should be between 50v20 and 42st30 because 50v20 is available for 73.5k..

I am quoted 73.5k including brand new piece+shipping +panasonic dvd player worth 3k..

so given a price of 72-73k, if you compare 42st30 and 50v20, you get 8 inch larger size and thats a huge difference..quality wise I have compared both side to side and i was not able to make out any difference for SD or HD( I am talking for a regular person and not an expert) regarding expert reviews newer panel makes a little bit difference..every one knows about active phospher, better black levels (better in VT series) rising black levels in v20 but than there are discussions about (already high)black level measurements in vt30 series in foreign forums..

In my opinion if we get 8 inch larger size for a same price with almost same quality(remember no one claims V20 to be inferior than ST30 grossly) , it should be a straight forward decision..
and 42v20 has disappeared from market and next turn is for 50v20(not 100% sure but most likely)

Unless 3D and USB play-ability matters you most...

just my views..

Hi , am looking for 42 because of my viewing distance. 50 although might give me big screen, might be problem for me as i will be mostly watching sd content only. And more over 70+ is bit on higher side for me.

Tats why am comparing in 42 models only. old 42v20 or new st30.
