Panasonic 2012 lineup plasma models

Hi , am looking for 42 because of my viewing distance. 50 although might give me big screen, might be problem for me as i will be mostly watching sd content only. And more over 70+ is bit on higher side for me.

Tats why am comparing in 42 models only. old 42v20 or new st30.

Babu21,

how far do you sit from your tv?... as i mentioned earlier 42ST30 is available for 64k with one 3D glass.....

Babu,

it's on display in all panasonic brandshops.... and in SS anamalai, thiruvanmiyur...

let me know once you have decided on the model..

hi,

Today got quote of Rs 67k for panasonic plasma 42ST30D.
Did not enquire abt freeware though.

Which is better----42u20 or 42st30d (if one ignores 3D in latter?) Is it worth to pay extra premium for deep black and NEo plasma panel in latter?

One easily visible (even in sleep kind of!) difference between neo plasma and normal pana plasma panels is reflection.

And that is the single most difference which will drive you mad in home conditions.

As I have already said, U30 is NO match to V20 by a mile.

Ya, i will check it out myself and post the feed here.

But what i observed is everytime i go to a shop, am pulled towards one tv in tat shop. donno if its rightly r being misled.

Hi,

Whats exact difference between http://www.panasonic.co.in/wps/portal/home/products/digitalav/tv/vieraplasmatv/stseries/p42st30d AND VIERA TH-P42GT20D | Panasonic

How much does this matter (w.r.to extra money needed) for mainly DTH viewing?

20 series is 2010 model , st30 is 2011

gt20 is not the high end model in 20 series. vt20/v20 is.
st30 is the entry level 3d tv in the high end plasma tvs. vt30 is the top model.
GT20 dont have neo plasma panel. st30 and vt20/v20 has.

This is a start to get the perception. You can still drill down to understand raising black levels, day light viewing experience etc

vt20>gt20 - both 2010 models without 2d->3D conversion having 2010 neo plasma panel
vt30>gt30(not in india yet)>st30 - all 2011 models with 2D->3D conversion having 2011 neo plasma panel

Another important factor for daylight viewing is the infinite black-pro. None of the indian models had it in 2010. Specs speak about it in 2011 ST30 though.

Both have Neo PDP. Difference is GT20 being 2010 year model has G13 and ST30
has G14progressive panel.

GT20 comes with 2d to 3d conversion.

Is this model worth going for or not ? I'm getting it for 3L
VIERA TH-P65VT30D | Panasonic

For that kind of money why dont you look at projectors?
1. You will save a lot and get bigger sizes (Pana AE4000 is available for 1.5L for e.g. Drawback being its only 2d)
2. Another 50K (or more) you can use for screen/ mounts. Remiander 1L you can keep aside and use it to buy 3d projector when the projecter itself and the 3D content is available for cheap (and you are interested).

Thanks for your reply mate, But as its a dining room and not a movie room. I don't intend to crap my false ceiling which is being done very nicely of wood etc to be crapped up by a projector. This TV is going to be run only couple of times, not many times we sit @ dining room.

In my mind i have d8000 led 55" or vt30 plasma 65"

You guys suggest !

@coolraghav

Since this tv will be in the dining room, a 3D capable tv will be a bit much. I feel the most suitable tv here would be the 50V20 from Panasonic. Currently retailing at approximately 85K in Delhi & 74K in Bangalore, this model will offer the benefits of the wide viewing angle so that can be viewed from any where in the room and the fact that it was rated as one of the best plasma panels of 2010 does not hurt. Add the Wharfdale soundbar currently available in the group buy section and this would be an ideal combo for Dining room/casual tv viewing.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
