Hi,

You can try with the panasonic showroom itself, they might help you to solder it for a nominal price.

cheers.

You need to find a person, who sells hacked electronic goods, best example is xbox360, the level of soldering that needs to be done on an xbox console is far delicate and complicated (or so I have been told) than what needs to be done here, so any one who is doing the hardware hacking for xbox can easily do the same for this player.

Hi Guys...

I got my player on 1st of january, the reason I could not post is coz I had to shift my Net connection to my new rented house and I was out of net connection for couple of days.

But my story ended in an anti climax, I was charged 1700 buck for the Duty on this player, when asked 20th North, they said its one in a 100 chance where in Customes do not pass the goods under Gift Item, and so even if the Govt rule says that goods under 200USD would not be changed duty if impored as gifts, its actually at the customs discrition to pass the product duty free. I called DHL as well and they had the same story. Man even though the player still landed cheaper than what its been in India, I had a sour experience I'd say and a pretty messed up luck if that.... 1 in a 100 figure is correct. Damm Delhi customes.........Anyway good part is I got the player well packed in original condition. Would soon post the picks when I get my net connection (I am posting this from Office :D).........

I am looking to buy an LCD this weekend and would soon post my experience with the player...... :)

Hi Sam,

Congrats on getting the Pana on time.. It is not an anti climax situation and itz only an beginning... way long ahead still U face like this for many more products you are going to buy from abroad:lol:

Good that u got the product without any damage, take it as insurance premium u have paid....

Oh next LCD.. Guy u r in spending spree... dont want to sit in your seat itz tooo hot...

Is that so...man shall I then consider myself lucky, anyhow I probably would never order anything that is more than couple of thousands that too if there is a substantial difference in the price (much like it was in this case).

And I am not on a spending spree, the collected money was all a part of my plan/Project years back when my parents decided to settle in Ghz in near future (I was already living here BTW), Since then I am saving like crappiest miser (and did some investments for this purpose), as its my life's dream/passion to have a full blown entertainment hub with all digital world I can built in. Now that my house construction is about to start I can virtually feel the excitement and tast the anxity with each passing day that brings me close to my Project. (though I had to go through a lot during this phase). I now am slowly and slowly letting out a small portion of what I have accumulated...............But the main rush would be when I start constructing my House with my dedicated Home Theater......I have waited like 7 years for this moment and it still looks like far far far ( though I presume the entire project should not take more than a year)........
If every thing goes well(TOUCH WOOD), the construction should start by Feb/march..... :)

Enjoy The Player!!!
And as far as the LCD goes, stick to FHD, do not go for HD ready, whatever size.

cheers.

I feel one should not mark the item as gift if it crosses 7K. Reason being we are asked to pay shipping surcharges[is it necessary] by 20 north and after landing anyway we are forced to pay customs ;). So if we select as non gift we can just pay the customs charge and not pay any shipping surcharges.

Thanks,
Prakash

Congrats Sam for your new player. Have you recieved the mod chip you ordered through Stegen?

Yep got the MOD chip today itself. The kit also includes a 3 page document explaining the steps, and a very thin wire to be used for connections. Handy kid I'd say. So when can we plan a visit to your tech in Palika for the Mofications.....this weekend?

Attaching couple of pics of the chip and the player. Would post a comprehensive review once I get my hands on the LCD.

Hi,

Congrats on your Pana BDP!:clapping: I'm happy for you!:yahoo: I am quite anxious about my shipment and keeping my fingers crossed.

BTW, may I know how much does the MOD chip cost including shipping?

Cheers!

Thanks venkat, what does your status say at the DHL site. The mod chip set me back a neat 74 EUROS. Around 4900 INR. Wait for my review on the player with the LCD after this weekend...... :)

Hi,

Actually, I ordered through vpost, so I think, as per Kapvin, it should be shipped via TCI XPS.

Waiting for your review..........have a nice time, enjoy!:licklips::ohyeah::yahoo:

Hi All,

I got my Pana BD-60 today. The price for the BDP is 5499 (price) + 2129 (vpost shipping + 500 (customs) = 8128/-

I had a small problem with the customs which I got it cleared.

Yet to hook it up and run it, will do that today evening:ohyeah::ohyeah::ohyeah::yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:

Cheers!

Hi,

I really liked the sound quality that is delivered by this player, but not so much with the picture quality currently, as I dont have proper sources available and I am using a component cable. As far as DVD upscaling goes, it does a better job than the AVR and also the "remaster" audio option enhances the mp3 and DVD's DTS and Dolby quality and reproduces amazing surround effects. I am very much impressed with its reproduction of sound when you feed it with higher bit rate MP3s via the USB port.

Also, I updated the firmware to BD 2.0, which took about 15 mins and watched some youtube videos and picasa albums, I feel it does a okay job, SD videos are pixelated and HD videos look better.

I dont have a HDMI cable with me right now, so now using a DAC brand component cable. I think a good brand HDMI cable would make a significant difference. My setup is very complex, in fact crappy, so didnt want to mess up with the HDMI cables that I use for my HTPC.

I will be posting a detailed review after feeding it with proper source materials and hooking it up with a good HDMI cable.

It is a nice feeling when you get the package in your hand and you find the stuff working:D after its journey all the way from several thousand miles:yahoo::yahoo: under the hands of risky people.....and after making several phone calls and going through a period of stress....but will I stop buying stuff from US because of the present experience....no, never, this will continue forever...it is always a thrilling experience....for me....sometimes, it is worth taking risks!:yahoo:

Cheers!
