panasonic plasma - group buy NCR

As reported by some, the 'three' year warranty is only valid for the panel. The rest of the TV is only covered by a 'one' year warranty, thus it is not as big a deal as it might seem. The 'three' warranty card is not included in the tv packaging and then the dealer and compnay keep passing the buck onto each other as to who is responsible for providing the warranty card. It is all very shady and definately very unprofessional, how Panasonic has implemented the whole 'three' year warranty offer. It seems they want to make it as difficult for the customer to be able to actually get the 'three' year warranty and that is also only if the customer is aware of it. Which by the way, the vast majority of the average customer is not aware of.

Hey,

Thanks for the update Sanjay, what I understand from this is - 03 yrs warranty on display panel and 01 yr on circuitry (just the 1st yr) and the extra 02 yrs wont be applicable on curcuitry as its only subject to display panel. Is this what its supposed to be? Please correct me if I am wrong.

Many Thanks,
A

Me too would like to have a copy uploaded of bill and quote.
Will be very helpful.
Thanks in advance.

You seem to have understood it right. Just for clarification, think of it like the refrigerator warranties. Where the compressor is covered under a 'five' year warranty, while the rest of the refrigerator is only covered by a 'one' year warranty. In the days of CRT TVs, manufacturers very commonly sold TVs with five year warranties for the 'picture tube', while the rest of the TV was covered for 'one' year only.
Generally it is very rare for the 'panel' to fail, just like it was very rare for CRT picture tubes to fail, thus this warranty offer by Panasonic is not really all that big a deal.

sorry for late reply. we have picked up three 42X20D as group buy from east of kailash, delhi in 32.5k each with 3 yrs warranty but without freebies(watch and sunglasses). i have told the dealer that more guys from group will be coming soon, so that anyone else interested get the same price.

Note: as many guys are interested, i will suggest you plan and go together as if count will be around 7-8, u guys can push him to 32k or free gifts.
i will be able to PM the scanned bill only after monday as i am out of station.

one of the guy in group was not aware about IR and burn-in. just by chance he told me that he has put cable connection and enjoying. I just want u all guys to do some googling on this and follow precaution in break-in period. its not a dreaded issue but be a bit careful. its same type of break-in as for automobiles in which parts take some type to adjust themselves.

ya in their recent ads in newspaper they have mentioned that extended warranty is on panel only but before buying i confirmed from one brandshop and one authorized service center and they told me its on entire set. The extended warranty card says "Panasonic warrants the plasma television for two years along with regular one year warranty (1+2) from date of purchase(Including Plasma Panel)". you need to send this card to chennai and in turn they will send you a letter and a auth code. All dealer says its not necessary but why take risk :)

to me process didnt seems shady as 1 yr warranty card was in the box and 2 yrs extended card was given by dealer without asking.

Why the advertisements would state something different is fishy to me and more importantly why they cannot simply include only a 'three' year warranty card with the TV is beyond me. That is unless they wish to make the process complicated enough for atleast some, if not most, customers to not bother with it.

I'm glad the situation has improved or maybe you just happened upon a really nice/professional dealer. My personal experience was quite the contrary.

Guys, anyone interested in buying the 42V20? I have got a quote of 62.5 (plus freebies watch & sunglasses), but with group buying should be able to push it down to 60.

Hi All,

Picked up 02 more 42X20D from the same dealer in East of Kailash. The purchase process was smooth. Will now book the demo/installation with Panasonic.

hey abhishek/avkash congrats dudes.

what price did u got and whether u got freebies or not.

This price of 32500 is being given by a institutional dealer.
I was speaking to a reputed dealer about this and he told me that Panasonic is really pushing lower segment plasmas in 42 inch sizes and so the price.

When I told him about this price of 32500 he gave me an offer of 33000 himself along with the freebies. (Which means that this price of 33k could be achievable from other dealers also).

Are these TVs from 'Panasonic India' or 'Alpha Radio'? You might want to check and confirm. The only way to really confirm is to contact Panasonic India with the serial numbers and verify with them or else you will face warranty issues later on. There is a lot of nonsense going on for the last few years in Panasonic plasmas, with Alpha Radio selling parallel imports/grey market products through regular Panasonic dealers and passing them of as 'Panasonic India' goods.

Hello Sanjay,

The paperwork in the carton and supplied by the delaer clearly states "Panasonic India" and when I called Panasonic's helpline they too confirmed a comprehensive 03 yr warranty and were able to acknowledge my purchase...So, as of now all seems to be OK.

Can you suggest a good media player within 10 K price bracket..thanks.

Cheers

i have asked the dealer frm thane on phone to contact venkatcr and get the pc reviewd frm him

the manuals are great-- dont knw bout the product if the product is as good as the manual itz a gud vfm
dvd player + media player + bt downloader with option to use internal sata based hdd drives up to 2 tb is great

at 7600 landing cost the media player amounts to bout 4k which is not bad as any dvd player would cost 4k with hdmi doubt
