I have a Panasonic PT75 home theater system. When I play DVDs on it and I press the "FUNCTION" button twice, it allows me to select the language encoded in the DVD.
It only shows me options for "2.0ch" and "2.1ch D". The "2.1ch D" I assume, is 2.1 channel Dolby Digital encoding.
All the DVDs that I play are 5.1ch Dolby Digital encoded so shouldn't I see an option for 5.1ch D also? I think I used to see this option when I bought the system new but I'm not so sure now.
Important thing to note is that all five speakers work and it does seem like I'm getting a 5.1 channel effect but I'm wondering whether it is taking a 2.1ch encoding and sending it to all five channels.
I called the Panasonic helpline but their engineer came and he was clueless about this problem and was hence unable to solve it.
