Pansonic XT50 owners thread

Bro - the pictures look blurred and unclear (especially the 1st few), is it the camera or the TV itself?

Too early to ask - are you repenting your decision to go for a plasma and not LED that you could have got for little more bucks?

BTW this is a 42" set so 50" will make the pictures even more blurred...?

Re: My Review :::: From LCD owner of past 5 Years.LG & Sony

As I said in my earlier posts, there is hardly any difference between XT50 and ST50 when watching SD and 1080i HD and that too when watching at 8-10+ feet

ST50, I guess, has more (a lots more) tweaks available in various Picture and Sound Settings. XT50, I think does not have "True Cinema" mode (not that it matters). ST50 will shine with True/Full HD (1080p) content.

Here are the main differences between ST50 and XT50 (ST50 --> ST50):
Panel:
G15 Progressive Full-HD NeoPlasma --> G15 Progressive HD Plasma Display Panel with Tough Panel

Display Resolution:
1080p --> 720p

Contrast:
5,500,000:1 --> 3,500,000:1

Shades of Gradation:
12,288 --> 6,144

Fast Switching Phosphor:
Yes --> No

Filter:
Infinite Black Pro --> None

Panel Drive:
2,500 Hz --> 600 Hz

Speakers:
Front speaker (8 train speakers) x 2, Woofer (80 mm) x 1 --> 2 x 10 watt 2 Speakers

HDMI Input: 3 side --> 2 rear

Wireless LAN Adaptor: Built-in --> WiFi Ready (The Wireless LAN Adaptor is sold separately)

Maximum Rated Power Consumption:
420 W --> 265 W

Check out my photos..shot using my Panny FZ5 megazoom:yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:...80% of photos shot with moving images..only 2-3 taken with freeze..also to keep the size down, I shot with low resolution..my TV is 5 feet above ground..so couldnt use books to stabilize..hence shot in my hand using my spread out feet as tripod.:mad:.I shot using various modes - using simple mode and shutter speeds of 1/5, 1/10th, 1/15th seconds. Also couldnt find 16:9 option...so shot using 4:3..enjoy and please let me know your comments.:yahoo: All shot in a bright room at 10AM today morning..i get so much natural light that no drapes will make it dark..no wonder my plasma looks dull...too much light.:sad:

AND YEAH TO AVOID BURN IN AND IMAGE RETENTION ALL MY SETTINGS ARE IN 30s...so not too bright or colorful

Amazing PQ. Congratulations. But what is that vertical lines seen especially on the blue background images? Is it a problem with resolution of the TV?

Thanks!! I think it happens when I freeze the picture..thats why I shot most of the photos with moving images..not all of them have it as you see. But one thing is for sure that I mentioned in an earlier post...when I watch the Plasma at less than one foot distance...there is no pixellation which my LCD used to show even at 3 feet distance...

Here you go..my SD photos....again shot on moving images in low resolution and my tv settings are very low at 20-30 to prevent burn in and image retention and shot at 5.15PM with all windows open and plenty of sunlight

You were right - this TV (probably all plasmas) is not for regular DTH viewing especially at daytime...

Too much reflection (almost like a mirror), pixelated lines all through the pictures, blurred pictures at times... looks like you would also be thinking about making an early decision & not going for LED...

Thanks for the pictures... will help others make informed decision & avoid mistakes...:clapping:

The ST50 does not have as much reflection. In fact, with the TV switched off, and me directly in front, I can just see a faint outline.

The XT50 and UT50 have more reflective panel. It the Infinite Black Pro filter that removes 75% of the glare on the ST50 and above series.

see practically the only time you start observing things are when you are watching a movie seriously..other times..like watching news or any other program..you wont notice the glare if ur immersed in the program.

pixellation and blurriness has something to do with the camera than the TV...the PQ is pretty ok..HD looks divine and like I keep saying..when you are within a foot of the screen..no pixellation compared to LED. So dont go only by my photos...glare is the only issue that you can takeaway from these photos

and dont forget the fact that I live in a ground floor independent house..not a flat and its a 25 yr old parents house and to keep electricity bills low..its got doors and windows everywhere. May be in modern flats these things are not that bad.

And frankly I have more serious things to contend like fighting with my kids ( they are addicted to the WII and watching recorded pixar movies on Tata Sky DVR) and sometimes wife over the remote than the glare..so I am perfectly fine with my TV choice and really happy I bought it before the olympics.

waiting for my sammy glasses to arrive from UK..then I will give feed back on 3d:yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:

Bought the 42XT50 for 48K ( + 1 3d eyeware + HT (will be delivered later) ) from Rajesh TC pune this saturday.
I took it in my car and asked them to install it same day and they did it :-)

They said that the 3d goggles + TV warranty card will be inside the box and it was not there when the service guy opened the box. Then i went to the shop next day and got my 3d goggle with the warranty card. It was a pack piece only.

Overall i am more than happy with the pic quality as of now. I am now planning to change to airtel digital tv HD from the current dishtv sd box.

See I am no connoisseur of Plasma- Mr. Kix paid twice what I paid and he got many things I don't have - so please talk to him and ask him in real life conditions how they help.

For me most of them didn't matter at least at the cost of 50K more. Maybe for you they may matter - so please call Mr Kix and convince yourself.

But one thing is for sure.....if all you do is just switch on your TV and watch without playing around with settings - my TV is fine for 50K. But if you are an enthusiast then it may disappoint you as there is not much calibration you can do

3D is a feature that will be used once in a while. It is not recommended to watch 3D for extended periods of time. Original Panasonic 3D glasses are very costly. And I seriously doubt whether Panasonic makes them - some OEM makes then with Panasonic logo and Panasonic is selling them at nearly 3 times the cost.

@rajatk, I have said in many posts ... you should go with X50 or XT50, at most you could go to UT50. Anything above is an overkill for you.
