Pass B1

One more query. It is safe to DC couple the My Ref if I use this preamplifier with My Ref exclusively.
Hi it seems that PASS B1 has DC blocking caps because it has to stop (1/2) V at output. You have to keep this.
My Ref also has DC blocking cap at input but you have to measure if there is any offset at both ends wrt each other/GND.

Tomorrow trafos will be ordered if there is some respite within that price. I will be back on 28th.

Could you please check the feasibility of the following trans from that vendor for my another project? If possible, please include these also (4 trans)

Yellow : Reqd trans
Grey : Alternative

cmsajith, we are discussing GB of R-core while you mentioned those toroidal. Voltage could be achieved but form factor and size may differ. Are you okay with that?
Also you need to specify if they are used from 230V mains or otherwise? I assume those above are secondary voltages. Further you can PM me.

hi guys,

i am looking for a trafo for the myref i am planning to make. 28-0-28v, around 250w should be good. This is going to be used mostly on my desktop, so small form factor is important. is it possible to fit it in this gb? how much is it going to cost?

28-0-28 is not the correct transformer secondary voltage rating.

Use 22-0-22 160VA minimum to 24-0-24 250VA maximum for good results.

Check the MyRef thread on hifivision. Dimensions can be checked by the link given by Mr omishra (Silchar technologies)

Update: R-Core will be getting next week, already ordered.

My progress so far ->
6mm faceplate added.Partition of perforated steel sheet.

All modules are soldered and waiting for new home. I am trying different input caps, or revert to original input caps got with this kit.

This is the plan for this box.

Drilling started, so many holes to do. It seems wiring will take another day.

Yes, that is an input selector board. I also had bought one with four sources but will use the same with my other Pass BOZ preamplifier. The B1 with a straight single source with two outputs.

Hope you've ordered on behalf of those who opted for the group buy of trafos.

You are building BOZ? Wow, have you also considered other options, for example the BOSOZ, which is supposed to be the best pre-amp from the Pass DIY stable.

@captain

Yes I have already nearing completion of the Pass BOZ and an input selector for a second preamplifier setup. Waiting for a few matching components from element 14. Here are a few pics: The Red ones are the preamplifier.

Yes these are for the people who shown there interest in this thread. Somehow EMD guys are in holiday mood. So expecting it anytime.

Hi Mishra,

Glad to hear that. I have a suggestion. Why don't you ask the EMD guys to directly ship to the final user rather than they shipping it to you and you shipping to us in turn. Not only saves us some bucks on courier but save time and would also reduce the transit risk. Give us a deadline to pay directly to your brother's account. After the specified date he can withdraw the amount and pay to the EMD guys and gives them shipping instructions.

Hi Audiodoc,

I was inquiring if you have also considered BOSOZ, in short for 'Bride of Son of Zen' before finalising on BOZ (Bride of Zen) Checking because, BOSOZ is said to be the best amongst all pre-amp designs given free of charge by Nelson Pass to the DIY community.

I had read about it but the BOZ PCB was available for around 500 bucks so decided to populate it. Will try a BOSOZ sometime later. Lots of parallel projects at hand.
