Omishra/Sachin,

One doubt. I have assembled the power supply kit designed by you. It has one 24v output. How to draw power supply for the LDR volume control which is 12v. What resistance should I put in series so that the 7805 regulator doesn't get heated to much?

What else you are powering up with this PS?

Pass B1 + LDR volume control and maybe the SSP. I want to drop around 12 v across the resistor. I do have a heatsink too for the 7805.

LDRs take variable current depending on volume level selected. Volume control at extreme will have ~80mA draw max and lowest at center position. 200?, 2W will drop approx 16V at 80mA. So nearest value could be 150? 2W for 12V drop or 200? 2W for 16V drop. Go with 150? 2W.

Couldn't you take a tap from the 15-0-15 DC output of the PS?

Thought about that, but was contemplating about unequal load (even though it may be negligible) and I am impractically paranoid about symmetry :o.

I have received 11UF Axon caps today.

That LDR volume control is not consuming fixed current, it changes with volume control level. Hence voltage drop across output Panasonic filter coils keep changing accordingly. This produces imbalance for dual PS. Though it could be tapped before output coils itself without any issue. I am using it same way, tap before coils.

Just one suggestion.
Don't ship any item to anyone before receiving complete payment. It shouldn't become a pain in persuading each one of the FM who haven't paid up, through PM/ calls etc. Yeah we are all good people no doubt, but sometimes it might happen due to their busy schedules. I don't want you guys to suffer in any way just for trying to help others. Already you have taken pains in choosing, ordering and dispatching the items and that is greatly appreciated.

I hope everyone agrees with me.

Awesome! That completes the kit (Except R-core and case) right? Let us know the final amount to be transferred and lets roll! :yahoo:

Hi,
Yes it completes the B1 kit.I only need to buy few local components for Power supply and Source selector.Final price would be:
B1 = 3200
Power supply=1000
Source Selector = 800(approx) I have not calculated the cost of Source Selector kit but it should not be more than Rs 800 with good quality relays and rottery switch. Fms can transfer their share.I can start shipping kits from tomorrow/Monday.

Regards,
Sachin

So total 3200 + 1000 + 800 = 5000/-
People who have transferred 2000 will transfer the remaining 3000 :)
Doing it right away!

That leaves us with the R-core and Case.

How simplified our project has become.:)
What about other components such as knobs, RCA connectors, LEDs, wires, power cable and tools.. I read a few posts on it. I think we did not make a list of FMs interested?

If you guys are interested i can provide the entire items as a kit except the Knobs. It will be easy for those who are in the B1 Cab GB since there will not be any mismatch between the components and the holes provided in the panels.

Thanks,
Bibin

Great News Sachu! :clapping:

As I see it, sourcing the rest of the components that Santy has pointed out will not be an issue, as we can either procure from local market or from Bibin, except for the Vol & Source selector Knobs. Since all of us will be requiring these, where do we get a good pair of them from? Anyone ready to do a GB for them as well???

Kindly advise if these are available locally as well, hopefully not cheap looking ones that will mar the look of the rest of the amp ;)

Over to the experts

:)

Sachu, as rightly pointed out by Santy, kindly collect all the dues from all the FM's before dispatching their kits. We definitely should not burden you for any monetary loss.

Om, kindly advise us on the R-Core status & also when to make the payment for the same.

Bibin, can you find out the cost of the Cab for a GB of 10 pcs? Based on this, we all can then decide for the cab & finalise the same. Kindly also advise the cost of the RCA connectors, LEDs, wires, power cable separately and the same with tools, so that we can decide on that as well.

Thanks in advance to

Sachu, Om & Bibin

You guys rock!
