Also this was the cost he paid for his Cab, but on asked for Group Buy of the same, he informed that a minimum qty of 10 pcs. should get us a better deal, quoting his reply to my posts in that thread.
QUOTE:
Price Breakup for the Cab

B1
Sheet Metal Works using 1.2mm CR sheet and powder coating : 1380 INR
Acrylic work and laser engraving front(9mm) and back(4mm) panel : 1052 INR

Total : 2432 INR INR

Thank you denom. For group buy if there are more than 10 Qty I can ask them for some discount and i have the drawings and templates with me. So the repeat order cost will be less than the current cost.

Thanks,
Bibin

Definitely in for this. Awesome job Bibin. Can't thank you guys enough. If it was not for you guys the DIY journey would have been tough, this removes a ton of inertia to get started.

Count me in for a cab. Bibin, can I get one without the faceplate? I'd like to try to get a faceplate made exactly like yours but made of wood :-)

Sure, and what about the back panel. Even i can provide you the front panel in wood with all the engraving. I have access to CNC Router.

Thanks,
Bibin
The back panel in acrylic is fine. Except me, no one is going to see that much anyways :D

What I would like is the faceplate looking like this: :licklips:

Of course finally, it would depend on how much this wood stuff would cost, if it adds to the cost significantly, then I might/will have to rethink.

What about the volume knobs? Do you need those too in wood? The wooden face-plate can be done and the cost depends on the type of wood. It also requires an acrylic or metal sheet behind the wooden panel to mount the pots and power switch.

An exact estimate is difficult to provide and i assume the difference will be less than 1K if we use some normal wood other than teak or rosewood.

Thanks,
Bibin

Don't need the knobs in wood. Was thinking of providing some contrast with black knobs - like the knobs you used. For the wood, you know what - one wooden [or bamboo] flooring tile will work well - and they have a nice grain too. IMO, should not cost more than a few 100's.

That's a great idea. It makes life easy...:yahoo: No need of surface preparation, direct cut and polish......

The following tile dimension is perfect for our purpose. It comes in a box of 8 Pcs. If you can get a single piece of your favorite color and grain it will be easy for me. I will also try here to get a single Pcs.

Tile Name Red Oak - K 1002
Size 1215x168 mm
Thickness 8.3 mm.
Series Kajaria Wood

Hi Bibin,

Sachu has included the source selector in the kit, will there be any issues implementing it in your cab face plate? Pls advise.

I think we would be requiring the knobs(Vol & source selector) too, if so then advise the cost of the same.

As for Keith's face plate options, pls check this link:

click on wooden flooring november 2012 link, it will download a PDF file which shows all colour options :)

Thanks

There is no problem in adding the source selector, i have provided option for four sources. Sachu's source selector can handle six sources. If all of you want to use the six sources then i can modify the design to accommodate six sources.

I brought the knobs from the following seller in ebay. It cost around 600 Rs for two knobs.

Aviation Grade Aluminum Knob 09 Volume Control Potentiometer and Switch | eBay

Thanks,
Bibin

It handles up to 5 channels. One can choose not to use the 5th position, if
you want to use Bibin's cabinet without any change.
The size of the board is about 95mm x 52mm, so should fit in without any issues.
You could even mount it on to the back panel itself, right behind the RCAs.

Awesome cabinet bibin. I love those socket head screws! :d

I am definitely in, and am also one of those who think the body shouldn't cost more than the engine :)

So the list stands so as of now:

1)apk
2)mbhangui
3)thecoolestone
4)rohitmusic
5)ruenigma
6)denom
7)Santy
