Could you let us know from where you are sourcing it from? Since Technics doesn’t have a presence in India. Thanks.

Curious - are your an existing technics turntable user? better still, are you a technics SL1200 MK2 or SL1210 MK2 user?
No, I am not. My previous TTs from a while ago were Clearaudio and Rega. The 1200G has universal accolades and seems to be bullet-proof in built and easy to run, no fluids and belts to replace, also a headshell so easy cart, and seems to compete with six-figure (in usd) TTs. Hopefully my last TT.

Getting it from a store in UK. They are will to ship internationally. Fingers crossed that $#$#$*&^*( customs doesn't spoil the vinyl party. :)

Why I enquired was to check if you are familiar with the technics sound :)
Yes, when it comes to Technics, its the closest one can get to a 'plug-and-play' situation with a TT. They are so well built that they seldom give any trouble and work very well with minimum maintenance. One really doesn't need to care about cartridge compliance and stuff like that. Just bolt up any cart to its headshell (or a spare one) and you are ready to go. Works like tonearm calibration and speed calibration are also very easy and do not need any technical skills.
Some experts (or those who have sampled multiple turntable types across brands) may say that Technics direct drive turntables sound very industrial and the SL1200/1210 series tend to sound a bit dull additionally due to heavy dampening. My take on this is Technics offers speed and pitch accuracy like no other type of turntable and it will continue to play like this for years and years. A bell will sound like a bell and a piano will sound like a piano, a xylophone like a xylophone and so on. Regarding dampening, it has its advantages too, which in my opinion outweigh the disadvantages or drawbacks. The funny thing is we talk about the SL1200 being heavily dampened and end up putting our Garrards and Lencos in multilayered plinths, trying to achieve the same results :)
All the very best for your purchase. Once you sample a Technics Sl1200 series turntable, it will be hard to turn to or retain anything else. I have gone through a load of turntables including the famed SP10 Mk2. These different models have their strengths and weaknesses, but none of them in my opinion have the allrounder capabilities of the SL1200 series (inclusive of the value/dollar spent, factor :) )

It's an opinion but in my opinion a well built Lenco is hard to beat

There is a PTP Lenco on sale here on the forum as well ..for starters...

If one is hell bent on Technics then

I would try the technics 1500 model first and if I like it then spend $$$ on the 1200G.

But hey....different strokes for different folks

:-))

Why don't you go buy that Lenco? :)

What ever makes you think I haven't owned both the SL1200 and Lenco...I don't know..

Go on and do your thing

Who ever stopped you from buying what you want ?

Something is stopping you though from being open to another point of view.

But Its your problem not mine :-))

I am not familiar with the Technics sound. I do want to try out DD and from what I have read so far, this TT as you mention has very compelling qualities. Don't think I can do better than you in elaborating on them. A TT that does the basics right and imparts no colouration might work out very well, I can get the cartridge I need for the sound I like.

Thinking of trying Hana SL on this table, let's see how it goes.... :)
