I can foresee Steel utensils are gonna be the next costly household item after LPG...you seem to buy plenty of steel available in the world ;)

By the way, which movie is this, at the left of Inception ?

coaltrain, great choices... I bet those digibooks would add up to the front row of your collection.
Do, give your experience for Premium Rush.

thanks, saket.
premium rush was an absolute blast! bought the film after seeing the trailer and certainly got my money's worth. if you're looking for a fun ride, where you can park your brain on the side for a bit, look no further :)

@ crossbow

I really like covers that capture the essence of a film with minimalistic graphics. the minions cover is a winner! thanks for sharing :)

My BluRay collection so far.. in a month of owning my HT setup.. planning to order another 10 from Amazon UK.

Sreejith, that is one good collection. I can see some un-seen movies on Blu-ray... like Vertical Limit, Gandhi and a few more.
I can even see that you like a lot of documentaries and have plenty of them to prove it. These are infact great on Blu-ray for both audio and video qualities.

Once you have them properly arranged you will enjoy them even more. Waiting to see another picture of your collection, once you have them in their permanent location.

This time, 2 Hindi movies.
I bought 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' in GBP 4.5; a movie I have watched many times on TV and still I don't feel bored with this movie. This is really a mesmerising movie.
and Mr. India is a childhood favourite. Glad to see that such an old Hindi movie is released on Bluray in UK.

technobhatt, your selection of ZNMD on Blu-ray is worth.
The movie can be watched numerous times and the quality is superb. Curious to know if its any different from the Indian one I have.

Surprising to see Mr. India on Blu-ray. Do comment on the quality of the transfer.

Yes Saket, ZNDB is really a great Hindi movie of recent time. It's nothing different from the Indian version, just a UK release. I hadn't bought it if it wasn't 4.5 GBP only. I already have it stored into my DVR, as this movie keeps on coming on Star Gold HD channel very frequently.

I watched Mr. India last night completely. It was a pleasure to revisit this movie after almost 10 years.
Bluray transfer is average, image is full of grains. Colors also don't look natural. Sound quality is also not that great, but there is no issue with dialogue listening quality. Yet I would say, for the movie it's the best available version.

I can say I still love and cherish the movie. All we know about how good Amrish Puri as Mogambo is in this movie.
But my favourite, I laughed out loud on Annu Kappor's dialogues. Annu Kappor is amazing in his comic role of the editor of 'Crimes of India' !! That's the advantage of Bluray watching, I got to notice the newspaper company name first time :-)

This is the problem with older movies transferred to DVD or BD. It is full of grain, smudges, blemishes, etc. The audio is also plain stereo. I was heavily disappointed with my copy of "Sholay" DVD. It looks like a rendering from an age old telecine machine. Same applies to my Hindi DVDs of many classic movies such as "Padosan", "Jaane bhi do yaaron", etc. Point being, there is no digital remastering of video or audio.

On the other hand, my DVD of "Kal Ho Na Ho" is very good.

No Bollywood production house or producers are caring about giving full justice to old Hindi movies.
It's only NFDC, who have started restoring some classic offbeat movies on DVD, like Jaane Bi Do Yaaro, Dharavi etc. (I read more info about this on Blu-ray.com forum - India section - there is a thread about NFDC restoration).
But still we are deprived of good old movies like Sholay on Bluray!!

If somebody is looking forward to watch some good old movie in HD quality with good stereo sound, we have Zee Cinema HD channel !! The only Hindi movie HD channel which never shows upscaled movies.
Zee Cinema HD has really made HD restoration for old movies like Sholay, Deewar etc. Also, I was glad to see that Deewar was originally produced in 1.33:1 ratio, but Zee Cinema HD has telecast the movie in 16:9 format and I never felt like image is cropped or something missing.
Full marks to Zee Cinema HD for their quality standards. It will be a bonus if this channel starts showing movies with 5.1 Dolby sound.

I thought unless you have the original film elements proper digital restoration is difficult. Hindi film video rights change every now and then, if you take a film you will find it has releases from EROS,EAGLE etc. its because these films are taken for a duration and then handed over to the next. I think films deserve a better treatment than that. Moreover, perhaps state-of-the-art digital restoration of Guru Dutt's or Satyajit Ray's or Basu Chatterjee's or Bimal Roy's films are only possible with the help of foreign labs which are better equipped at this point of time.
