Pioneer avr owners thread

The price is good, Pioneer is good but Snapdeal ain't so good. Check out the Snapdeal thread on the forum.

Vsx 823 for 25k sounds like a good deal.. I got the 323 for 18k I think.. In my opinion.. If the effects are going to be so awesome its worth opting for it.. If you're looking at it just for the networking.. Imagine my tv is wifi and BDP is wifi and I have connected the Airtel also to lan.. But I have just watched movies regularly as i usually did.. I do try and play video from the network.. But I don't use that primarily..

Hello,

In snapdeal the pioneer VSX 823 K is no more available . The price was 27K with cashback extra. I have asked them to get it back again but no reply. Im lost. !!
I checked with dealers locally, they are quoting 32 to 34K. It was 7K less in snapdeal. Is there a good deal like this now available any where ??

Snapdeal once had logitech harmony 650 for 3500 when ebay sellers were quoting 5 or 6k.. It was continuously out of stock.. I had requested to stock up.. No reply.. Even now it has a out of stock.. I got the remote from USA for 4.5k..

Yes, I agree, Snapdeal seems to be very bad in customer interfacing and inventory availability. 75% of the items that we look are always SOLD OUT. Why cant they keep enough inventory even after so many customer requests!

Thanks a lot for creating a dedicated thread for us ( A Pioneer AVR owners)! Nearly 7 months I'm really enjoying my TV watching experience with Pioneer VSX-522K + JBL SCS 200.5 BK combination. The exp. is really amazing, But still one thing is knocking on me about this combination. Is this the proper combination in terms of matching ohms between receiver and Speaker?. Also, I've tried this ARC option many times, but It didn't work so far.

The reason being asked about the combination questions is my receiver used to switch after 4-5 hours continuous usage. I had to switch it on back to then.

Hello.. Thank you.. I couldn't find many ppl using this avr.. And few of us had just bought it.. I have told many ppl how to use ARC. But honestly it doesn't work in my setup..

Regarding the switching off I have read in some forum it might be an under voltage or heating issue. Pls check your stabilizer or clear your AVR from obstruction like cloth or paper at the cooling vents..

I have had random switch offs but mainly during a power cut or when power resumes.. I attributed that to blow voltage or temporary loss of power before the inverter kicks in (should not happen though)

Okay.. Quick question.. I have a small problem here.. Anyone with a pioneer avr.. Pls cross check..
Airtel stb - - > AVR - - > TV Via hdmi.. I used to have audio on both tv and avr before.. Now I get only either in AVR or in the tv based on whether I turn on ARC or off.. Is this how it is supposed to work? Someone update please..

Thanks in advance

update...

Just to have a clear idea..
i disconnected the hdmi cables..

connected the hdmi 1 of the tv to the stb .. No video/audio

then changed the setup as below

connected the stb to the avr via the same hdmi - got video and audio on avr.. (i had this before...but audio only on tv or avr..not on both...that was the confusion to start with...and now this) :(

i switched cables also thinking it might be a prob with the cables.. same effect..

its really confusing..anyone??

Hi Gautham,

I have tried the same thing. Am not getting audio in TV if am connected through DTH-> AVR- > TV. Only audio in AVR is coming..

Do u know whether we have the option of HDMI passthrough, i mean to say

is it possible to watch DTH without powering the AVR.

Hi... I don't think so.. It says 4k pass through...

And more to worry now.. The usb files I used to watch and youtube etc used to have an audio output through optical cable to avr..

I'm not getting audio in it now..

I'm suspecting a defective optical cable.. How do I figure it out.. I see a red light at the end.. For the cable to not work should I see a blank?

I can't figure out the damn ARC thing too.. It has connected to anynet devices.. Volume control of tv controls avr too.. But no output.. Grrrr... Someone help

Hello..
I just figured out that it has hdmi passthrough option..

Press receiver button on remote..

Then audio parameter

Then scroll down..

You will have the option..

But the problem is you will have to enable and disable every time...

I wish it detected automatically and played sound either in the avr if it is on or in the tv if avr is off.

Sad..

And to add.. Just configured ARC...

I had to change the hdmi port in the tv for that..
Look for the hdmi port marked arc.. Since the tv is wall mounted had a lot of trouble doing that..

Anyways.. Use a mirror or the front cam in your phone.. :-) its easier..

Then turn on the arc in the receiver..

Operation success..

One small doubt again.. How do I turn off the on screen display when I use the volume buttons.. :-(

The same happened to me once. I switched off everything and powered on then it worked properly. Try and let me know. Will try to find some other solution.

Yeah i have connected toslink and am very much happy with the output... I made all the settings for ARC but still audio is not coming. Need to find that.

Hello...
i just figured out how to do it..

your tv has to have ARC enabled..check its specifications..

if it is..then one HDMI port wil have ARC in it..try and find which one has the option..

then shift the hdmi which connected the avr and tv to that hdmi port

now in the receiver...go to Home menu...scroll down...HDMI setup --> ARC on..

it usually connects (ANynet in samsung...sot sure whats in LG)

then when u plugin a USB or probably another source of video directly to the Tv or use smart apps/youtube.. switch the avr to TV as input...

Bliss

:)

New problem.. :-)

I have the arc working and stuff..

But the problem now is.. The avr changes input to tv everytime it switches on in spite of keeping it in sat/cbl..

I was expecting this long back for you... :) The reason is ARC. You need to disable ARC while watching SAT/CBL and enable while watching movies in tv.

The reason is , the TV will again try to give the audio back to AVR while watching DTH and results in changing the mode to TV . Please use the above solution and it will work...

hello karthik..
thanks for the "update" :)
you cud have warned me :D

actually..there is a fix for that..

i have a harmony remote..

i could set a slight delay... gotta try

1. switch tv on first..wait for 5 secs..then switch on avr..
2. switch on avr...wait for 5 secs and then switch on tv..

im guessing the input in the avr changes once it receives ARC signal from the tv..
so i should set the tv to start first..lets see..will update after i try it both out..

but even better..i found why the optical out may not have been working..
gotta rty out..
there is a signal sel button on the remote..
i must have fiddled with it sometime and changed the output..

gotta go and try that..

anyways.. read the manual twice as a result..
good experience..my mother would be too unhappy if she knew i read a manual twice in one day than reading my books when i was at school..

:D

cheers mate..

I would like to buy a universal remote. am fed up of carrying 4 remotes

Is harmony gud ?

Yeah.. I had my doubts before.. I thought it cannot be used with the smart TV and stuff.. But if you are a bit patient during the first few days.. You can make it work for any function.. Just a bit of logic.. Only the cost is a problem.. I was very skeptical about buying one for all remotes.. There's one in ebay.. A touch screen remote.. Just check it out.. Must be available in Richie street

Pioneer VSX-822-K is available at walmart US for $218. I might ask my friend to carry it down if he has space.
I am in for a budget HT system. The options I have in India are the Yamaha YHTs and Pioneer Rs series, the basic or the mid range ones.
Is this an ok deal? I mean with the features.
Also - Will this work in India, 240 V, 50hz?
