Hi,
Greetings to you all.I am new to this forum and this is my 1st post.

I am planning to buy a 42" plasma TV in chennai.I am also ready to buy online from ebay or sites like letsbuy.com.

My budget will be around 35k.
Will be watching tata sky and movies downloaded from internet ranging from 700mb .avi prints to 720p .mkv files.
If possible, would like to play PC games like NFS shift in this TV.

I currently have an Measy HD player (it has 1 HDMI port and 1 Optical out or in not sure) and Altec lensing 251 5.1 speakers.
PC has 8channel audio and GPU is Nvidia Gt250S with HDMI port.
Would like to connect these 5.1 speakers to TV and i am not sure how to connect.
DLNA certified will be better as i can connect my galaxy S2 to it.

Some of the options in the internet are
Panasonic 42X30 and 42X20D- Not sure what is the difference?
Samsung PS43D450 and PS43D490 (this is a full HD and 3D ready)
LG 42PT560R -
Any other option available.Please suggest.

Apologies, if i have posted something wrong.

Panasonic 42X30 is this year's model and 42X20D is 2010.
Samsung PS43D450 and PS43D490 Both are not full hd, only hd. if i were you i would go for d490 (best price around 40k INR)but in case you don't want to stretch your budget, go for d450(Fits your budget perfectly).

Hi, Panasonic is very good with their hi end models like V, G, S series because they have the neo pdp panels which take pic quality to another level. However, if budget is a constraint then suggest to go with Samsung. Samsung would be better than the pan X series.

However, if you could stretch the budget a bit, then getting any of the pan V,S, G series would be best. Please demo any tv with SD and HD in a low ambient lighting before making your choice.

hello dear,

what about the "Panasonic Fluctuating brightness problem" that 2011 Panasonic plasma's
have. Just google and one can find 51,100 results.

I want to replace my 32" Panasonic LCD TV with a big screen plasma.

Thanks

hey guys
do plasma tv's like the 43d490 reflect light in the same way as a CRT TV?? i have a CRT TV at home. with my current placement of the CRT, the TV does not reflect much when sunlight enters. just wanted to know if i place my plasma TV in the same place will i have the same amount of reflections as my old CRT or will there be more reflections??

thanks

The best price quoted for 51D550 here in chandigarh is 66.5k,after 11% discount on MRP.

Check the link below

this is scary and heartbreaking.
Buy Samsung 5 Series 51" 3D Plasma TV PS51D550 at Best Price in India - Also find Specifications, Photos, Features & Reviews 64,499 rs and i am sure you can get some coupons to get minimum 5% off further.
Regarding the floating black issue i do not know much but if you read through this forum , plasma tv is highly recommended, panasonic plasmas(specially high end one's) get pretty high ratings so i think buying one is pretty safe bet. But still in case you can not make up your mind, there are so many choices for LCD tv as well(even more than plasmas). i suggest you go and have a demo of both and decide.

43D450 or 43D490 of samsung are the best one in your budget, particularly the latter.
Thank you vikram_2640,god2007,aakashr.

Yesterday went tp chroma outlet and other shops here in chennai. I did not like any of the offers they are providing.

What will be the cheapest price for samsung D490?
They did not have any 3D demo material for this model. They showed a 3D demo in a sony LED full HD tv.It was really amazing.
And also saw another LG LED tv with advanced 2D to 3D conversion.

If 3D effect is good,i will extend by budget and go for D490.
Will D490 have good 3D effects? and also Does it have DLNA?
How does this compare to Panosonic u30D?

if you have the budget, go for pan V20..............if 3D is imp to you then you have a choice from VT, GT, ST. if you still want something cheaper go with samsung. do not worry about floating blacks.........panasonic 2010/2011 models are still on top of most of the reviews and ratings.........and still happen to be some of the if not the best plasma's around. you cant go wrong with them.

Hi, plasmas used to be extremely reflective but thanks to development in technology, most good plasma tv's come with an anti reflective coating making it a lot better to handle reflection. however, to really witness the breathtaking picture quality of a good plasma tv, you do need to watch it in low ambient lighting. BTW some LEDs also are very reflective.
With Panasonic stick with VT, V, GT, ST and you cant go wrong with any of them. Even Pan 2010 models like VT20/V20 are excellent buys, if available.
Also, movies are best watched in a cinema room environment with low light, just the way the director wanted it to be watched. so, go ahead and bring that plasma home!!!

How is 42GT20 for SD viewing? Does 42GT20 has AR filter? Would this be a good buy for around 50K?

Please advice.

In low end plasmas reflection will be comparable to CRT. Since the area of the screen is much bigger than your CRT, the reflection will be as much higher.

6+ series from samsung and panels with infinite black in panasonic have (very) controlled reflections to the level that it is a negligible issue.

In short, If you get samsung D450/D490/D550 or panasonic C/X/U series, there will reflections. Anything higher than that won't.

Hi, there is very less 3D content available..........so investing in a 3D tv is a personal choice. I would save the money and get a really good 2D tv instead. But, if 3D is imp and you would like to be future ready, then look at Panasonic VT, GT, ST.......some of the best 3D tv's in the market and all with neo pdp panels. Pan U30 does not have the neo pdp panel which is what you should get in any pan plasma. If budget is a constraint would suggest to go with samsung rather than the U30. There is also a general consensus of plasma being recommended over LED for 3D but then again that is a very personal choice.
Remember to request the sales staff of the store to turn down the store lighting to the min when looking at any plasma demos. LED will look good in normal store lighting but to really see the magic of plasma you need to turn down the lights.

In short, go for neopdp panels with infinite black in panasonic. If they are out of budget, go for the samsung. Avoid panasonic lower end X/S/U series if possible.

Also, avoid LG like plague.

It is a neo pdp with infinite black AR filter. A very good buy at 50k.
Be noted however that 3D in 42" TV will be only so so.. You need 50+ inches to really enjoy 3D.
