Please suggest cheap and best 42" Plasma TV

It is a neo pdp with infinite black AR filter. A very good buy at 50k.
Be noted however that 3D in 42" TV will be only so so.. You need 50+ inches to really enjoy 3D.

Thanks Blasto.

I am not keen on 3D anyways. I was looking for a decent 42" plasma for a living room with 8 feet of viewing distance.

Has the AR filter feature been mentioned anywhere? I have failed to see that on the website. It just says G13 panel with NeoPDP.

In short, go for neopdp panels with infinite black in panasonic. If they are out of budget, go for the samsung. Avoid panasonic lower end X/S/U series if possible.

Also, avoid LG like plague.

totally agree!!!

Infinite black is panasonic way of telling "Good AR filter".
Infinite black pro is panasonic way of telling "Excellent AR filter".

Dear Blasto/aakashr

Out of these two 51D490 and 51D550 which one will you heartily recommend and why?

My viewing distance is 9-10 feet.

thanks a lot

I am sure nothing can beat 51D490 for SD movies and SD DTH (especially). My 50VT20 cannot produce the same PQ for SD as my 2 year old B450 plasma. For HD it is a different story.

If you are going to watch >50% SD get the D490. If it is >50% HD, get the D550.
But frankly, in the demo I had with 1080p source at viewing distance, there was NO difference at all. But SD will be noticiably better in D490. Ask the owners how D550 fares in SD and decide.

Thanks BLASTO

Do these LG 60PV250 Plasma TV Price 1.9K and LG 50PZ850 price 94 k, any good?

LG 60PV250 is not 3D TV, but full hd., Its 3d counterpart 60PZ550, 1.65K, have some good reviews on Amazon.com.

can we fully trust amazon reviews?

these are good, but you want cheap and best 42", aint that right?

Hi, there is very less 3D content available..........so investing in a 3D tv is a personal choice. I would save the money and get a really good 2D tv instead. But, if 3D is imp and you would like to be future ready, then look at Panasonic VT, GT, ST.......some of the best 3D tv's in the market and all with neo pdp panels. Pan U30 does not have the neo pdp panel which is what you should get in any pan plasma. If budget is a constraint would suggest to go with samsung rather than the U30. There is also a general consensus of plasma being recommended over LED for 3D but then again that is a very personal choice.
Remember to request the sales staff of the store to turn down the store lighting to the min when looking at any plasma demos. LED will look good in normal store lighting but to really see the magic of plasma you need to turn down the lights.
Thanks for replying mate.
My brother has bought a Panny 42X20 from malaysia/thailand for 18.5k.
Seeing that i also had a similar idea but just for the sake of warranty i am planning to buy it here itself.
So wanted to get the cheapest 42" plasma TV but reading a lot of posts here..
I have to decide between 42X30D or PS43D450.
Then one 3D demo at chroma made me think about buying the cheapest 3D plasma and be little bit future proof.Just for the sake of fun.
i.e PS43D490.
So most probably it wil be D490 unless i get a better TV for less than 40K.
Tv's with Neo pdp panels are atleast 65k i guess..
What is the cheapest price i can get this D490 in Chennai??

Buddy, post was started by me and my search is for cheap and best 42" TV.
but it is shared by other fellow forum members as well who are looking at some costly options.Hence the confusion i guess.

I hope you mentioned 1.09L. Anyway they all look like cooked up prices..
Where did you get the price of 1.65L for the 60PZ550??

Check @ Buy LG 60" 3D Plasma TV 60PZ550 at Best Price in India - Also find Specifications, Photos, Features & Reviews. They have it for 1L with scratch card.

I will not recommend any LG plasmas though. You decide on your own.

hi BLASTO,

Thanks buddy, your help is much appreciated.

The dealer here in chandigarh is not ready to give the TV set on Online Shopping - Buy Mobile Phones, Cameras, Laptops @ Lowest Price - Letsbuy.com prices. He says these websites can't provide better after sales service.

What to do then, should i ask him charge a little extra, 2-3k above Online Shopping - Buy Mobile Phones, Cameras, Laptops @ Lowest Price - Letsbuy.com prices or should i insist on Online Shopping - Buy Mobile Phones, Cameras, Laptops @ Lowest Price - Letsbuy.com prices only.

Thanks in advance

yes i want cheap and best, a little off-topic but i'm looking for the same in every size of plasma's 42-60 inch.

i mean

1) cheap and best 42 inch tv --->
2) cheap and best 50 inch tv---->

Thanks

42inches PRICE : Samsung 43D450, Panasonic 42U30, Panasonic 42X30
42inches QUALITY : Pan 42V20, Pan 42ST30

50inches PRICE : LG 50PZ550
50inches QUALITY: Pan 50VT30, 50GT30, 50ST30

What to do then, should i ask him charge a little extra, 2-3k above

I already told you, you should avoid LG for plasma.
Unless you have a pitch black room, reflections will kill the picture. LG plasmas have untreated glass. Contrast is not high either.

what kind of after sale service he is promising? knowing chandigarh city, it wouldn't be difficult to find a service center of LG. my suggestion, you look around chandigarh, may be mohali you can get a better deal. But if price is same and you are not comfortable purchasing online, then you don't really have a choice.

PS: I would prefer Panasonic or Samsung over LG when it comes to plasmas.

I am looking closely at Samsung 43 Inches HD 3D Plasma PS43D490 TV and have these fundamental questions-

1. Are the glasses used for a particular 3D TV different from the one used for another make (eg. LG and Samsung)

2. Opinion/ suggestions about the above given model and any alternatives for the same features and price - plasma-3D-HD-42-Rs. 40k

3. Flipkart has this model retailing at 40k with two 3D glasses free. Is it a good deal?

Different plasma's from same company, yes same glasses can be used . But LG plasma's are passive 3d while Samsung are active 3d's so the glasses are not interchangeable between samsung and lg.
This is one of the best plasma in the given price range. Another option would be panasonic u30 which is full HD, but no 3d.

Check out letsbuy.com , price mentioned is 40,420 but 5% discount coupons are available on net(google)so effective price is 38420 INR.

Answers for
1) Samsung models released in 2011 uses Bluetooth for syncing glasses so no you can't use it with earlier models of samsung and it can't be used with other sony(infra red sync) or LG (passive mode) so it's unique only for 2011 samsung models

2)@ 40k nothing compares the pq of samsung plasma especially the ps43d490 model although the panel resolution is 1366*768 i've seen both the pana x30 side by side with ps43d490 i should say samsung wins in all categories of this budget models

3) I bought a ps51d550 with 2 3d glasses free for 62k and flipkart.com listed it as 64,499 so you should do your home work before buying online if you can't get lesser than online price then you should go never ever trust letsbuy they are very bad liars about the freebies more over if you find any damages you are prone to very bad customer care think of it again cause we are still in India not in the U.S (P.s Not condemning my Loving country but online shops must obey some quality issues as US has a lot of strict rules we don't have much) Survey your city you could get a lot cheaper than the online sites .

For 1) Is LG PLASMA a PASSIVE 3D? I have a doubt here....
2) PS43D490 resolution is 1024X768 (PS51D490 has 1366x768)
3) The online model on LETSBUY.COM suggest that it is PN43D490 or PN51D550 which clearly states that it is North American model.check this.

1. Only some of LG LED Backlit TVs are Passive 3D. Plasmas are active like Samsung and is lesser value for money this year.

2. They are different models and hence the difference in resolution. You might want to consider 51D490 or 51D550

3. Letsbuy.com STRANGELY copy specs from US site! That is all incorrect info there! I initially thought they are selling US models, later came to know they are selling the same India model. This is how lousy they are, just a glimpse of what comes beyond!

I have ordered D490 from letsbuy.com on 11th october and got this TV delivered on 28th only.
Their customer care is very bad/non-responsive.but the product is PS and not PN and manufactured date is mentioned as sep2011.
got the 2 3D glasses as promised.Came in a very good wooden packing safely.
Site is trustworthy since i have purchased many items from them before.
if you have to contact their customer care for any issues..that is the worst part.
