Please suggest Plasma TV.

There is one sellar at ebay from kolkata seems genuine, selling these models as dealer warranty. will talk to him soon.
About sony and samsung.
Samsung giving that smart tv function.
As general picture quality of Sony is better than samsung right?
Sony ex650 in 42500rs lol
http://www.hifivision.com/televisio...ed-stabilizer-calibration-break-guidance.html
Stillwaters got it :D
at ebay seller is selling same tv at 52000rs which i am gonna contact...So it mean seller after selling me will book 10000rs+ benefit. Damn no grey market in indore...
Sony Ex430 price 42000rs...
So if i am gonna buy led TV. my only option is ebay from grey market otherwise with warranty price is too high for me around 58k for ex430 model...

Ok guys time to make final decision. Price is same for both.
Sony 40ex430 = Better picture quality? + SONY :D
Samsung 40EH5300 = wifi+media support+more hdmi+more usb+smart TV function
I am buying this TV to use for 7-8 year so is it better to choose Sony as it last long over samsung? is there something like that?
I just wanted some points to choose Sony. As i see samsung clearly giving more option if not better picture quality as Sony, will the difference of picture quality and long lasting is that much? so i should choose Sony...
Please clarify between these 2 models and i am good to place order for buying :D

Go to a local store and check out both the screens and then decide yourselves as EX430 is quite new and doesnt have any reviews, so check out sony EX430 and samsung EH5000/EH5300(both EH5000 and EH5300 are same only difference is smart TV function :D)

if you are cool with dealer warranty go with e bay india samsung models......much cheaper than showroom.
sony is also cheaper but in some particuler models.
like sony BX 40 inch...52k showroom price..not led-lcd....its only lcd
e bay price 36k..........just an example...

Look specification-wise samsung is better than sony here and you can buy extended warranty on sony & samsung now. But there is a post here regarding samsung 6 series led failing within 1 year and samsung replaced the panel with another low quality panel...original panel was manufactured by samsung and the replaced panel was made by AUO...confirmed by adder.
Now replaced panel got high light-bleeding issue and bad uniformity...
So there is no peace of mind with samsung even with extended warranty.
I would suggest to demo both piece and choose based on pic quality...also have a demo of EX650,EX520.

If you have made your decision with LCD/LED that is fine. I say that IR and reflection issues with plasma are really a non-issue. Read here: [post=423198]TV for 80K Max - Post # 22[/post]

Actually due to some reason, my budget for TV is less now and also got delayed of buying. Should have bought till now.
I can't spend more then 38-40K(42K if TV is VAT paid). So in LED there is only 1 model samsung EH5000 which is around 37k at ebay. Sony 40ex430 is 42 around which is without VAT paid.
In plasma samsung 43E490 at 42k i can buy.
I watch less TV, my mother watch movies in afternoon at stargold/zee cinema like channels. So 1 channel stays like 3-4 hours easily.
In night my father watches news channels.
So its 98% SD content will go on TV. 1 thing also to worry as SD content looks crappy at 40" LED, atm have 29" crt monitor. Thing is gonna upgrade TV for future proof. In coming time may be all channels will be HD sooner or later so gotta buy TV and i have money for it now to spend....
So i didn't wanna take any risk of burn in/image retention and reflection thing also with plasma.
I watched demo at showroom. between sony and samsung, sony is clear winner in pic quality but i can't buy sony sadly due to less budget. only TV is coming under my budget as LED is samsung EH5000. I watched panny 42X50 also, in showroom poor panel was looking so washed out as compare to other LED and had massive reflection(many cfl was visible on it). I can tell you from showroom demo, nobody will buy panny plasma 42X50 :D

For your usage conditions, an LED like samsung EH5000 or sony ex430 are the best options, go for the one coming in your budget.

@Jason29, Why do you insist on LED only? I think LCD will do. And I agree that plasma is less suitable for your type of usage.

Plasma is cool, if one take care of it. Channels logo will be there as static image for hours cause my mother doesn't like to change channels. Also you can't use it with pc if you want to play games on it without worrying of that IR issue. I know, mostly said that IR is temp. So even channel logo will be there for 3-4 hours, if it cause IR. I guess it will go away. Then its risk although attached for burn in. There is nowhere written that burn-in will not happen unless there is static image for 24 hours or more. It is random factor i guess. Burn can be happen some hours use or may not even happen even 1 day same static image. I saw people commented that they passed 200 hours nicely still got problems later.

Well LCD are less as much i went to showroom for demo. Mostly LED were there.

Other option are
Akai takashi 40' led 38k=i don't find anything about it at internet, not even full details available...at showroom pic quality was ok i guess but can be a lot better...
phillips 42 led 43K= didn't demo yet. shopkeeper was saying its mrp is 69000rs so at site i checked its 6000series model. Also not much about it on internet...phillips just gave name to it. so idk...

What about videocon new LCD, DDB technology something in it. 14 bit processor they said instead normal 8bit processor in all other TV. I saw that LCD pic quality(14bit processor one) was better then LED(old led model) of videocon but didn't able to compare from others as other models(sony, samsung likewise) weren't available at shop.
Videocon LCD 42 also around 40k

About going towards LED. I read that below 32' or at 32' LED doesn't make much difference in pic quality as compare to LCD but like 40"+ models, LED is better than LCD.

If you can suggest me better LCD then samsung EH5000 model, that be nice. If sony 42ex430 price will drop 3-4K more at ebay, can buy this too.

No. You inferred incorrectly. What I and others said was at 32" and lower, Full-HD (1080p) is not going to be of great difference over HD-Ready (720p). Since there are hardly any HD-R LED models in 32" and below, that rules LED out in the segment. People are watching and enjoying HD-Ready plasma models in 50" size. It all depends upon content.

LED models will be brighter and more colourfull definitely.

This was supposed to be a plasma thread.........what happened??? 32inches LED/LCD.............better to go with a 42inch plasma!!! Image Retention, etc.........has been over rated, we all are plasma owners and if you really want good overall picture quality at a decent price, plasma is the way to go!!!

Jason your choice is very easy here.

As just4kix wrote in another thread
There are hundreds of threads on that. Please search and you will be elated. To summarize:

1. First 200 hours:

- do not keep static images too long (more than 5 minutes)
- reduce contrast to 35% or below
- reduce brightness to 40%
- do not watch in letterbox mode for too long (one movie or 2 hours is OK)
- watch in zoom mode so that DTH and channel logos are pushed away
- do not watch the same channels all the time (flip change during ad's)
- enable basic anti-IR features in picture menu settings (such as white bars in 4:3 mode)
- run white scrolling bar for at least 10 minutes everyday
- use break-in slides
- reduce use of games and as a display for PC

2. After 200 hours:

- do not watch in letterbox mode for too long (4 hours is OK)
- enable basic anti-IR features in picture menu settings (such as white bars in 4:3 mode)
- run white scrolling bar from time to time
- do not keep static images too long (more than 20 minutes)
If you can follow this go with plasma, else go with led-lcd.

^^ I dont think jason wants to follow all that because his TV will be used by family, including static viewing of same tv channels and also news channels , so it will better if he goes with samsung 40eh5000 or sony 40ex430.

This is an excellent guideline for PLASMA tv owners and would work great if followed. However, this also might scare prospective plasma buyers who might switch over to LED/LCD compromising on plasma picture quality.

I have been using my panasonic V20 for over 2 years now and have not followed any of the above and yet I see no issues with IR or static. This is just to confirm that even if you do not follow everything as stated above............the tv will not get damaged.

Yes. This is indeed what I wrote:

The above is a canonical list for the ultra sensitive people.

And this is what I actually followed/still follow:

1. First 200 hours:

- do not keep static images too long (more than 5 minutes)
- reduce contrast to 35% or below
- zero PC usage

2. After 200 hours:

- do not keep static images too long (more than 5 minutes)
- reduce contrast to 35% or below

Net result: No IR, No BI. Once again, an open invitation to any member or their relative to my home and verify.

I am repeatedly saying that I have nothing against any company/any LED/LCD/plasma. I sincerely believe in providing first hand information based on personal experience and what I read in expert reviews.

Peace on earth and this forum. :):):)

I agree to this. This is for sure to be used by many members to go against Plasma TV.

I was too really surprised to see such long list of do's and dont's.. Seems more of maintainence than enjoying to watch TV..;);)

When i started this thread, i have same thing in my mind that in
current plasma=I have been using my panasonic V20 for over 2 years now and have not followed any of the above and yet I see no issues with IR or static.

Later i also saw that it depends on how you use plasma. I think, you take care of it by not letting static image or otherstuff. You mostly watch movies, rarely use pc with it.
So may be its working for you.

In my home all these SD channels gonna be viewed by family members without taking care(changing channel and likewise stuff will not gonna happen in my case).
Now you are telling me its fine, there will be no problem of burn in without taking care of it but other users reported is not same. They are getting problems even they took care, even after 200hours.
And i am kinda not rich:p so can't take risk, this tv must run atleast 5-6 years...

In plasma, good choise i have samsungE490 and panny 42x50 both are 42K around for me but can't make decision :p

Anyway @just4kix, here i found new LCD beside videocon

Sony 40bx450 38k and panny 42u5d 42k, do you think these are better than samsung 40EH5000 LED?
In sony and panny, definitely sony lcd is better? has 2 hdmi and lesser price although not VAT paid.
I like tho brighter image and more color.

If you are caught between samsungE490 and panny 42x50, you need to demo both thoroughly, play SD and HD and see which one you prefer. I would go with Samsung for entry level plasma's and with Panasonic for hi end ones.

My V20 is mainly used to watch HD movies over weekends connected to my HTPC.........and yes also watch SD almost daily.
