I tried an unorthodox tweak with my amplifier and speaker connection after taking hint from the Stereophile review. And, to my surprise the result was an improvement.

Basically, in the Stereophile review of the Exposure 3010S Integrated Amplifier, the reviewer connected the positive terminal of the amp to the negative terminal of the speaker and vice versa for both channels to see if a certain area shows improvement or not.

After months of being satisfied with my Exposure & Dali combo, I tried this suggestion to see for myself without expecting much. Rather, I was expecting to find a reduction is bass as is generally found with reversed connections. Surprise! the result was just the opposite. Not only was the bass in the lean Dali's increased, there is also more refinement in the overall frequency response. The sound has moved more towards the silky smooth tube like nature which I have been told that this amp was capable of achieving.

I am not technical enough to understand the reason behind this, but this is what my initial perception was. After a few more familiar CDs, I can confirm that, at least for this amp, this tweak has worked. The improvement is subtle but nevertheless noticeable.

To be cautious, I kept the volume low in the beginning, but the positive result remained even after slowly increasing the loudness. For once, I can confirm that some good reviews can actually be helpful.

Happy experimenting! (at your own risk!)

I had tried it a long time back with local amp & speakers. There is a change in sound signature, you can prefer depends on your liking.I also connected speakers(2 drivers of one ch)in that way(out of phase),doing that vocals improves, boom goes of.Over all output reduces, but I used to enjoy it.
