Post your latest AV purchase(s)......

Finally Norge Concerto Gold 1000 arrived today :p bit of long wait due to transport issues from Mumbai to Bangalore due to COVID19 situation.
Connected my AJ FS52 + Norge & it sings beautifully... i was worried if i need to reconnect my Subwoofer back to stereo 2.1, just in case there is less of those low frequency... but i was wrong its just perfect. So the subwoofer stays connected to Yammy-109 continue to do justice to movie experience ;)

Those highs & mids are perfect, tight bass. Don't have to crank up the volume more that 4 steps on the volume knob for my listening preference.
When I comparing to Marantz PM6005 which i owned earlier found Norge is slightly bright in sound signature than PM6005 which was warm.

Back to long sessions of listing to good music :cool:View attachment 47189View attachment 47190
Good to know, Enjoy Listening. Generally With good amplification Of at least 100 watts Per channel these AJ 52’s show their real dynamism. How do you compare the musicality factor between Marantz 6005 and Norge concerto gold 1000 Do we need to use any DACs coz Marantz 6005 has a good unbuild DAC in it?

Your Spot on, Norge concerto pairs really well with AJ FS52 only bcoz of sheer per channel output capability. PM6005 is a good IA, however it just doesn't bring out the details i.e. SQ out of FS52 as Norge concerto. Inbuilt DAC in PM6005 is good. You need external DAC with Norge if you have digital source which need to be connected, hence ended up buying Topping E30 recently. The combo is perfect & works really well.

To summarise if you ask me, I would opt/suggest Norge over Marantz any day as it sounds splendid with Indian music & western too. Its a complete VFM i.e. IA+DAC package below 30K.

Cheers,

Is there any particular reason that you opted for Norge 1000 vs Norge Reference 2000 Price difference/ wattage difference/sound quality? Thank you

at the price level ( in fact at most price levels ) things are built to a price so you win some you lose some..

If one wants a feature packed amp then the performance might be compromised or vice versa.... simply because the price point is the same..

for me - i would go for a specialist amp or a dac - as i think - do 1 thing - do it well - holds good...

Concerto Gold is more balanced, however Mosfet Reference will be little bassy in sound. If i'm not wrong normally Mosfet are preferred for subwoofer amplifies where you need more power output to drive the speakers. Specification wise both are same on paper, not sure about the price of Reference didn't enquire as it was very sure of picking up Concerto when i auditioned it :)

Agreed, you as a buyer/consumer has to set you priorities right & then decide based on your preference. Always take some time & audition when it comes to AV equipment, just don't go and buy based on reviews & feedback alone, user experience is very subjective in this area ;)

There are a few Norge 1000 music test videos on YouTube try to post a video of music test if possible. It enlightens many enthusiasts who want to take a good & quality gear. I am having the fs52’s since 4 years but till now I am not satisfied with their sound quality. Pairing them with Marantz nr1601 receiver. I will certainly go with Norge in near future. Thank you

Wasn't sure you can post pics. I also have a HiFiman Ananda I got my cousin to buy from Aus, but it's been sitting there since lockdown happened.

A restored pair of Technics SB-F3 bookshelf speakers and just this week a pair of Technics SB F-2 bookshelf speakers. These need some paint restoration. Now looking for an SB-F1 to complete the set.

LONG POST ALERT
Hello FMs
Happy Diwali in advance. To possess a hifi system has been my long cherished dream. I am no audiophile but an audio enthusiast. I started my journey as an enthusiast or music lover with a Philips valve set and HMV fiesta some 40 years ago. However over the years I bought many basic and humble rigs and till date have been collecting vinyls. I have learned the necessity of hifi separates, (amplifier, speakers, source) from my friends and HFV. Next I began to think whether it is necessary to invest money on hifi system. This year I was ready to buy an humble system within my budget. But pandemic locked my dream and I was compelled to maintain social distancing with AV stores in Kolkata Therefore the only option left was buying the rigs remotely with out audition. I began to read various threads on HFV and asked members about a system within my budget. Respected members came forward and gave me suggestions which benefited me a lot. Luckily one of the members ,an adorable one posted an advt for selling his wharefedal diamond speakers and I contacted him and bought the speaker pair and to my surprise I was given speaker wire free of cost. From this apart I got some valuable suggestions from that fellow. The next step was to procure an amplifier and it too became easy as another adorable member sold his Marantz PM 6005. So of late I have my first set of basic hifi system. I was doubtful whether I would like it over my active Philips speakers. But actually I begin to like it and i don't compare it with my Philips. Both have some virtues and both are good. I am indebted to all respected members who always helped me. My special thanks to FM Sandeepss without whom I could never have accomplished my heart's desire. Now I am listening to my vinyls and next will connect my basic Philips DVD player to my marantz amp though I am in a fix about whether I shall take DVD's digital out or connect it to tuner section of the amp using an RCA cable. Thanks for tolerating such a long as well as boring post.
Regards
