power amplifier

What I meant is using the Crown for the highs and the Yamaha for the low/mid's.

Edit: Or even using the Crown in Y mode and removing the Yamaha out of the equation. Or using the Crown in Y mode, removing the Yamaha out of the equation and setting up band pass/low/high pass filters for both the channels of the Crown. Interesting amp! Have a nice time tinkering with it.

SQ of yamaha AS2000 is much better than crown and highs from crown is not at all comparable to Yamaha. Crown is there specifically for low frequency duty and midrange of crown is exceptionally clean, so I am satisfied with the result.

Even I tried my DAC's balanced output directly to crown, removing yamaha out of equation. Yamaha's pre is absolutely necessary, can not live without its sound signature. Yamaha's pre out to crown and Neutrik's Speakon connector with 40 amp rating made the low & Mid range fantastic and highs from Yamaha made my den sonic heaven( not exaggerating:)

Did your recent holo dac give the urge / itch to go for something new? I think power amp u r trying first time in your chain. Just curious.

you need to read first post carefully. This itch was due to speakers, not at all related to source and DAC.

Yup true... but the speakers were there with you since long. Sometimes it happens with me that after introducing a better thing in the chain, it reveals some shortcomings in the remaining chain and i next feel to do some more upgrades...hence was asking in that context

Nope, in another forum one guy has mentioned the phenomena related to speaker impedance and load on amp, that time i discovered that my speakers are under powered and my amp is getting hit by the load.

If you know the x-over points of your speakers, you might want to try setting up the low pass filter for the Crown and see IF it makes a difference. Just saying.

Will there be any difference by using speakon connectors in place of normal banana plugs?
If I want to put this in active setup is complete xlr cable will be better or the current cable of one side xlr (crossover side) and rca and other end?
