Panasonic 42inch V20 is for 62k and is considered the best of the lot. LG 50 inch 50PK550 is available around the same price though. Its a trade-off between slightly better picture quality to 42% increase in viewing area.

Well, I dont need more viewing area. 42 inches is more than enuff for me. 62k will be a lot more than my budget. Well, will G series or S series be cheaper? I want to squeeze the budget within 55-60k, the lesser the merrier. Also, G and S series both are full HD.

From what i have read so far, V series is leaps and bounds ahead of the G and S.So, it would be a much better idea to hold off a bit, collect the cash and get the V20 since it will be a long term purchase.

guys i just went online to panasonic website... for the x20 models...

its says the Resolution for both 42" & 50" is only 1,024 x 768. Would that make it not even HD-Ready ? Not even 720p....?

Where as last years X10 50" & even this years C10 has 1,366 x 768.

How much worse is 1,024 x 768 as compared to 1,366 x 768 ?

Wouldn't that make a big difference in upscaling DVD movies to 720p and also playing a bluray or a 1080p bluray ?

Thanks

i think ur making a mistake here, check the site again. All 42's hd ready are 1024X768 whilst all 50 hd ready pans are 1366X768.
I own a X20, in terms of brightness and picture clarity, it is superior to the X10.

Infact all the 2010 models (G13 engines) are much sharper and brighter to their 2009 models(G12 engine). Also dropping blacks are not reports in the 2010 models.

I dont think 1366 and 1024 will make much of a difference, but full hd(Vseries) to the hd ready sure has a lot of difference whilst playing high def.

I rechecked...

1. All the HD Ready 42" are 1,024 x 768.

But

2. in 50" HD Ready...

VIERA TH-P50C10D is 1,366 x 768

VIERA TH-P50X10D is 1,366 x 768

However the...

VIERA TH-P50X20D is only 1,024 x 768

This means that even though the VIERA TH-P50C10D is lower model than the X series it still have higher Resolution than the X20 50".

Also....

Even though the VIERA TH-P50X10D is last years model, it still have more resolution than the current years VIERA TH-P50X20D....!!!

I can't understand why would panasonic give lower resolution than last years model and also lower resolution than this years lower model.....?!!??

ah ur right, it does say 1024. I own a 42 though and d difference between the 2009 and 2010 is quiet evident. I suggest you walk into a showroom and double check.
BTW, does the A20 come in 50? if yes, get that, better sound.. everything else remains the same

Hi, am looking for a 50" Plasma in Bombay. Can someone help me with a couple of things: a) Which shop provides the best price deal on LG Plasmas? and b) What would the best price be? Kohinoor Electronics is offering LG PQ30 at 52300/- and PJ650 at 53000/- both under exchange of my 29" Phillips flat screen TV. Is this the best possible price in your experience?

Can't see A20 in 50" on Panasonic Website.

Hey how much worse is C than X ?

Coz C 50" has 1,366 x 768 whereas X 50"has only 1,024 x 768 ...

Which will be a better buy C 50" or X 50"....??

Anurag,

The PQ30 is a 2009 model. I have the 42PQ70 from 2009 setup at my parents' place. We got it in July 2009. This year's models are PJ350, PJ650 and PJ560 in ascending order. The PJ560 is the top end HD ready model (1365x768 resolution panel) with side mounted 2-way 10-speaker system. The speakers are really good as I got my 50PJ560 only last Saturday. It's fantastic for TV programs and I don't have to turn on my AV receiver for that. Very clear and quite powerful sound, decent bass and treble. Above the PJ560 is the top end full HD PK550.

These are the prices I have in Chennai for these models:

50 PJ350 - 55k
50 PJ650 - 57k
50 PJ560 - 59k

50 PK550 Full HD - 62k

(All with free Airtel HD DTH)

Venkat,where was that pricing available,vasanth quoted 66k for 50PK500
Do hd ready and FULL HD models have the same resolution pannel??
Didn't your plasma have the green or grey pixelation problem the other LG owners are experiencing??,I read that the firm ware is getting updated this month and waiting for that to get over

Hi Venkat, thanks so much for the response. Just a couple of quick queries: The LG website says PJ560 is 1024X768 resolution panel, while you are saying it's 1365X768. Either ways, is there a drastic difference between the two? Also, got a quote for 53K for the PJ560 in exchange. I guess price-wise it's difficult to get a better deal, but you'll definitely recommend this model having used it? I'm not tech-savvy, just looking for a large screen TV(12" viewing distance) to watch DVDs and satellite channels through Hathway set-top box, no gaming, no ripped movies.

Hello,

This is my first post.

I would like to know the price quoted for 40" - 42" LCD and Plasma in Cochin now

Thanks

Purchased a 42" LG 42PJ650 for 41K from LG Shoppe in Hyderabad today.

PJ350 was 3k cheaper.
