Sunil- sorry couldnt help you on the PV8.
Folks, There is an imminent price rise on the PV8. Now, no body is willing to sell under 44.5k best price. The average retailer has it 46k onwards.. Not sure why a seemingly old model continuously has upward price revisions.. Are we forum members responsible for this demand hike and therefore unwillingness of the retailers to lower the price down?
Sorry if this sounds like a complaint, but that is the thing about the Indian Market & Indian Consumer. Really should not be comparing, but have to say this folks, so no offense meant to anyone. In the US there is a deal every week in BB, or CC or a Sears etc. And these deals really pass on the savings (however large or small) to the customer...not to mention that older discontinued / almost discontinued models certainly are put on good discounts. Here, even on an old model / about to be phased out model (e.g. the quote above) retailers make money from customers. Why??
Not to deviate from LCD / Plasma pricing and hijack the thread, but there have been times I have been to stores to buy stuff (e.g. Fisher Price toys, good imported Silverware etc.) and the cartons have been torn / damaged, but still the store manager WILL NOT sell it as Manager's special!! And guess what the next time one walks in, it is SOLD!! Someone supported, by paying full price for the damaged box piece. So why will it ever be on store manager special??
Anyway getting back to LCD's / Plasma pricing discussion, the one thing about SONY pricing strategy (even though, do not support that they have higher prices here in India as compared to other western nations for same models) is that the price is a bit higher compared to competition, BUT, rarely 2 people buying the same SONY LCDs pay a difference as much as people buying Samsungs or Panasonic etc. In this case look at the price variation of the Pana Plasma PV8s.
In short, UNLESS, SONY reduces prices, rarely we see or hear people say that in Y city I bought a SONY for Rs.X while someone says "oh yeah, but I bought the SAME SONY in T City of Rs.S. That way at least when you buy a SONY LCD you know for sure someone else in some other city is not paying drastically less or more for the same model at about the same time! That is a good feeling.
Adder, you being a firm SONY LCD supporter, will certainly like to see you add to this....SONY pricing strategy
