well IPS panel is good for a lcd monitor but not good for TV application since they have poor contrasts ,poor black levels and poor shadow details this is where the SPVA/AMVA panels have the edge and the best lcd out there which is the sony XBR8 aka X450A series has a SPVA panel.
btw almost every manufacturer is launching new models like sony will be launching the new S550A,V550A,W550A,WE5 series and samsung with the B550A,B650A etc and panasonic with the new X10 lcds/plasma and G10 lcd/ plasmas.
so i believe its not the right time to buy a tv,since the news tvs are definetly better and u may also see some good discounts on the old models.
It is more likely than in a large family some folks will watch TV from an angle off-axis

well the thing is every one including ur grand parents can benefit from the increased contrast and shadow detail.only a very small portion of the people who without choice sit in off axis,i mean only at extreme off axis will u be able see a contrast shift which in spva/amva is around 45 degree from the centre and for IPS based around 65 degrees.At those angles people don't even feel like watching it be it from a OLED ,crt or a plasma because the picture looks weird at those angles.
i wonder why somebody hasn't reminded us about this being a price thread .

Bought the PV8 for 45,500 at JD Electronics.
Watched the "The Island", (720p) via WD Media player. It was amazing.

My friend bought PV80 from Devi Int, Jayanagar for 48K. PV8 was quoted around 44K.
He was initially looking at Samsung 5 series and converted after a short discussion with me on Panasonic quality, price and the VFM package

Yes do bargain at Ezone...the price displayed at Ezone for a pv8 was 49000 but i said it was available at Vijay sales for 44k and they immediately reduced it to 44k....of course i was faking about the Vijay sales price ..lol:lol::clapping::yahoo:
