Thank you, man
i will surely consider your idea.. But i tried negotiating with shop person.. They are not ready to go down below 65k..

Any other decent 46 incher for my budget..

As you are looking at LED, I will suggest Sony 47W800 which is under 1 lac (with 3D and other smart features). Have you tried the Panny 46 one that is being advertised by ezone for 69K or so with a free HT few days back? If it is 46ET5D (last year's model) is not so bad.

yes i have checked out that panasonic model 5d in showroom and can get for 68k in bangalore...

For this model i didnt get proper reviews and if this model is better than SONY R45 series and Samsung UA46F5100ARXL i will sure go for it..

Please note i am not looking for more features (like one samsung offers).. My prime goal is Picture quality for my budget of 70K max...

As far as I know, ET5D is Upper mid level Pana set. It is at the same level of HX750 of Sony (2012). Whereas both R series (Sony) and Samy 5 series are at the lower level/ entry level sets. Under that whatever is available are ultra economic models. Anyway have a demo for the same before deciding. I demoed the 55ET5D till few months back and I liked the performance as a whole. I think it is a good VFM as it used to cost around 1 lac last year. Now it's available for 68/69 K with a free HT.

thanks manzb..
i got a clear conclusion from yur suggestions;
Now based on your suggestions and reading posts from HFV... i have narrowed down to few models.. Please Rank them based on your openion.. This will really help me..

46'' Tv s
1) Sony R45 - 68k
2) Sony Ex 430 - 64k
3)Panasonic L47E5 - 68K
4) Samsung 46UA5100 - 67K

Demo Piece Sony HX750 - 65k (i am sure this model will be your 1st rank however i am Little hesitant to go for it since its demo piece)

All the 4 you have listed are of same or similarly ranked. Have not seen R45 so far. Hope it just is a replacement of EX430 model of 2012.

The Pana model I was referring is 47ET5D and not 47E5D. I think the difference may be only 3D. But as I have seen 55ET5D in detail, so I can hope 47ET5D will be same and can be considered (and it shall be priced around 70K). Actually last year 47E5D was competing against EX630 of Sony, which was the premium non 3D offering from Sony.

Anyway have a demo of R45, if it actually satisfy your need and you are happy with the PQ, then Sony is a better choice then the other two. Normally the reliability of Sony is considered a bit more than the others apart from a bit of extra snob value for owning the brand.

Yes you are right about panasonic.. Difference is only 3D feature..

About Sony;

1. Sorry R45 is the model which we discussed earlier R452a.. Do you mean that Ex430 and R452a will be in same league.. So i can opt for Panny E5D or Et5d..?

2. In that case i am worried about the IPS panel in panasonic.. Even though it has better viewing angle than VA panel.. But the contrast was better in VA .. Thats wat i found thru internet search...

3. Please share your openion about IPS panel deep black and contrast issues since yo demoed panasonic model....

4. Is that that contrast issue is negligible for a average user like me? Or is this issue is obvious and Deep blacks doesnt appear in Panasonic ET5D you demoed..

Thanks a lot for your response...

IPS panels are nowadays are being used by even players like Sony for one of their top of the line W800 series. So there is nothing wrong in that. They have got the best out of the IPS panels, IMHO. Similarly, though Pana may not be in the same league of Sony in getting the best of IPS,s till I think they are doing better than the LG, who is the main manufacturer of IPS panels. Regarding deep black in IPS panels it again is subjective and don't expect to be as good as the Sony W9 series. Overall I liked it, and it seems more VFM at that point of time. If you don't need 3D, then even R452 may be a good choice. Just demo them all together in a large store like Croma/ Ezone/ Digital etc.

Thank you man,
i have taken demo of R452 and did not find anything offensive.. However one of the online review stated about poor viewing angle of this model... That thing is bugging me...

Let me double check this issue and i am fine to go with sony.. particularly this model because i did not worry about smart option or 3D...

I prefer to buy a 50" TV with 1080P(full HD) . Don't want to pay for smart TV functions as I have my own devices like home theater and Logitech revue (GoogleTV) for internet. My preference is best picture quality. Any suggestions for Plasma/ LED TVs in 60K-75K range.

i think if you can sightly increase your budget and can get ST50 model from panasonic(plasma). Its a fantastic model and as for PQ (check Cnet reviews).. No LEDs in its price range and can beat ST 50 contrast levels, PQ.. However i think this model is discontinues and higher versions may be available..

Please check..

How about Panasonic
LED 50B6D avialable for Rs.62,700/ at infibeam
Plasma 50S60D @Rs.71,000/
P50UT50D@7000/ (3D) at indiatimes shopping

Is this model still available in bangalore? pana website dosnt mention this model. Guess this is last year model.
And, if it is still available, what could be the expected price?

Sorry buddy,
i am not sure about the pricing if it is sold today.. I checked in some stores couldn find it.. it was around 80k some one in forum said...

I have a basic doubt about plasmas.. In showrooms plasma looked dull.

But in our homes where we will have tube light lit in evenings does plasma performs better than LED in this condition?

Also during normal daylight in living room and evening light... Or should we maintain the room as dark as possible?

Please let me know the best price for Samsung PS51F5500 in Bangalore .
Showroom pointer would be greatly appreciated.

Samsung PS51F5500: I watched this in a showroom in Hyderabad and observed a lot of glaring and light reflection and given up finally.

TH-P50S60D available at Rs71,000

TH-P50S60D available at Rs71,000

I think the price is good. S60 requires good light control in your room. If there is light that you cannot block, you will see reflections of the screen and some dullness might creep in.
If you can put curtains all over, then the TV will really perform very well.

Of the two P50S50D and P50UT50D which is preferable. Price wise both are in the same range but 50UT50D is 3D TV. Any suggestions please ??
