Recommendation for beginner Turntable

Nice to see a quick decision. Congratulations!
The acrylic platter and drive design seem to be very similar to the Scheu Cello.
Awaiting listening experience. When is it expected to reach you?

Fiftyfifty

Look forward to your listening experience.

Maybe sometime a listen to your system as well if OK by you.

I am floating in a different direction but will keep my thread suitably posted.

Do post pictures

Good thing is to make up ones mind and go for the best as practically possible.

Best regards

You are welcome anytime Mahesh. Let us know where your 'float' takes you.

Cheers!

I will get it next week and give it some burn in before commenting. I will initially use my Schiit Mani phono stage before thinking of upgrading that. By the way, do you use the Lyrita phono stage?

Regards

I had fun setting up the Marantz TT15S1. It comes completely disassembled but setup is logical and simple, even for a layman like me. I decided to do it myself because I was shocked at the way the dealers's technician was manhandling his demo unit. Wanted to post first impressions of the product:
Positives:
Its a big big jump in performance as compared to the Rega. A few things stand out:
1. Tremendous sense of rhythm and pace
2. Sweetness that transcends genres - Coltrane, Dylan, Tull and Rostropovich, all sounded beautiful
3. Pinpoint focus and large soundstage on stereo recordings. Mono recordings make you forget that there are two speakers in your room
4. Overall good build
5. Detached motor that sits on your rack without touching the plinth
5. Great looks, with a white acrylic plinth and solid looking feet

The negatives:
1. The manual - it's written in funny Chinese english. Wonder why a relatively pricey tt would come with a badly written manual. The pictures in the manual are badly reproduced scans, not even photographs. There are sentences like 'on the left of the underside screw extending upwardly...'. Strange!
2. I had a bit of a problem with the wonderful sounding Clearaudio Virtuoso cartridge. When I tried to push the tonearm wires into the cartridge pins, and I did this very gently, the body of the cart came apart from its plastic top. When examined, it appeared to be merely stuck with some cheap glue, so a bit of fevikwik did the job. Now I wonder why a company like Clearaudio will not spend a few dollars more on building a more stable cart!
3. No dust cover.

Overall, an excellent performer that could well succeed in converting a digital guy like me to vinyls :)

Cheers!

Please write to Clearaudio explaining the iffy build quality. This should not happen. It will be good if you have a photograph to show them.

If that turntable was indeed put together in China, that might explain the lousy manual.

Congratulations on your new vinyl player.

You probably know this but it should be easy to understand the importance of component matching or pairing.

It is apparently made in Germany. I must read the small print! But like I said, the great sound makes up for these minor issues. My point is that it would cost them next to nothing to address these deficiencies.

Cheers!

It is already sold
I know lots of guys not on this forum who are after me for old vintage turntables to replace their newly bought Rega and similar brands including Clearaudio. They felt that listening to them didn't sound anything like what they experienced listening to basic vintage turntables from Sansui , Pioneer or Technics at my place and elsewhere. We have opened up some of the so-called new models and I don't want to make specific comments except that they have made many compromises that I have not seen even in the very basic Japanese models. I am sad to say .
