installation 1200 quoted by sharp. these guys have called me like 3 times by now to come and install and i have been delaying it.
just AC is 36K..which includes copper pipe.. no stabilizer .. no installation..
Actually I live in 4th Block extension
Price you got is reasonable. I haggled really hard to try and bring the PET to 32K based on your initial post and also because SnapDeal was selling the same for Rs. 32,125.
In the end, I chose to pay extra and buy locally as I had a recent bad experience with ShopClues who shipped me a used microwave oven and I had to send a notice for Consumer Court to get my money back. The whole process of getting via ground shipping, send it back via ground shipping & refund took 3 months!
@nowwhat? and @theironhorse,
Congrats!
I also envy you guys that you don't have to think of stabilizers. We in TN, aren't that fortunate!
Actually I am getting a stabilizer.
But honestly, I don't think it is required based on my experience. Recently, we changed most of our home appliances and I bought a Panasonic Inverter refrigerator. Even though I didn't buy from him, the local Panasonic dealer said that I needed to buy a stabilizer. I therefore called up the Panasonic Helpline to get to the root of the matter and the service engineer told me how the refrigerator converts AC to DC first and the power conditioning circuitry handles a wide range of voltage and spikes and therefore there is no need to buy a stabilizer. When I repeatedly kept asking him questions, he finally told me that if it helps me to sleep better then I should buy a stabilizer. Otherwise there is no need for it.
Later, I went to the local electronic shop and the owner of the shop said that he was up to his ear in stabilizers as everyone who has bought an inverter refrigerator is selling it. In fact the price for the one from V-Guard was Rs. 300.
So, there you have it. Why did I buy one now? It is only because Sharp Bangalore, unlike Panasonic, insisted that I buy one.
MJ23Bulls: What my dealer told me about the Sharp brochure is to rely on the tonnage on the left hand side to buy slightly bigger so that the AC is not overworked. Now on looking at the brochure once again, I see that Sharp has accommodated for the extra heat on higher floors.
For the lower floor, you should definitely consider a 1.5T and the upper floor should perhaps be a 2T unless you paint the roof above with sun-reflecting paint in case it is not white-tiled. However, you could get by with a 1.5T on top especially if you plan to use it only at night.
