How many of the winners have really done well for themselves? Have not seen the show in a long time.

I really like Kelly Clarkson and have been following her, and apart from her the only name that comes to mind/having made it big is Carrie Underwood.

She has a nice vocal range though... hopefully she can go beyond the idol.

very true. not many of the winners have made it big. singing is one thing, but being able to write music is another and thats where they fail. there have been a few successful careers coming out of american idol though. a few winners apart from the ones you mentioned have done decently well. a couple of contestants as well - chris daughtry, adam lambert...
