Symphonicities is the tenth studio album by Sting, released on 13 July 2010 on Deutsche Grammophon. The album is a companion piece to the tour of the same name, in which Sting, performing with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, reinterprets some of his songs as classical symphonic compositions.

Symphonicities was recorded at Abbey Road Studios and produced by Rob Mathes and Sting, mixed by Elliot Scheiner and Claudius Mittendorfer and mastered by Scott Hull.

Unlike some "best of" compilations (including the earlier Discography: The Complete Singles Collection), the tracks on the discs are not arranged chronologically, but split into two categories. Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe split the tracks into ones they thought were pure pop music ("Pop") and the ones that they thought were more creative/experimental ("Art").

Erasure, Depeche Mode, Yazoo, Kraftwerk and Tears For Fears are synthpop bands from the 80s that I used to listen a lot back in the day. Tears For Fears, Kraftwerk and Yazoo are still on my listening list, but I've not followed Depeche Mode and Erasure in a while.

The KLF is another popular act... they are more techno/acid and less synthpop but made some excellent music in the late 80s.

Three 80s band I love: Johny Hates Jazz, Spandau Ballet and Tears for Fears. Depeche Mode Mode was too alt for my more mainstream taste, though I fully agree that they're very inventive and creative. Ditto Pet Shop Boys. Erasure had one huge MTV hit that enjoyed lots of rotation.

Does any like Fine Young Cannibals? The simplicity and melody of "She Drives Me Crazy" is catchy.
