Right now I am listening to ...

And more additions to the list
OMD, Roxette, Sheena Easton, Cyndi Lauper, America, Bryan Adams, Super Tramp, George Michael, Back Street Boys, Queen

Never did try OMD. Must try them some day.

Roxette's Look Sharp was quite an album for a rock loving guy like me.

Sheena Easton's voice is velvety and so smooth. I wonder why she didn't last longer? I have a couple of her albums on LP.

Cyndi Lauper was a two-hit wonder. But it was fun listening to boys versions of songs inspired by her massive hit Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. The naughty ones, if you know what I mean. ;)

I still listen to America, despite their opaque lyrics. Take for instance 'Ventura Highway'. I'll be damned if I understood the disjointed lyrics. And what is the meaning of purple rain referred to in the song?

Bryan Adams' Reckless album is his best, IMO.

Don't listen much to Supertramp though I have a couple of records.

I consider George Michael a musical mini genius.

Backstreet are late 90s, not 80s BTW. I had quite the soft spot for 90s boy bands like BSB, Westlife, Blue, etc, but my all time favorite boy band are Color Me Badd.

Girls just wanna have fun? I remember an interview with Grace Slick of Jefferson Airplane, in which she spoke scathingly of The Beatle's I wanna hold your hand. "Holding hands? We didn't want to hold hands! We wanted to f___!"

Music from a more innocent era (if there ever really was such a thing)... Was listening to a few songs from Doris Day earlier. One of my favourite voices.

Yay, Jim Morrison weekend...

My first introduction to The Doors and Jim Morrison... I was a kid and was watching the trailer of The Doors movie starring Val Kilmer and Meg Ryan. Got the album An American Prayer and the rest soon followed.

This best of collection is highly recommended if you want an introduction to the band, it has all of their hits and the music that made them popular.

Jim Morrison - An American Prayer is highly recommended for the poet Jim was and a more visceral peek into one of rock's legends.

Finally, The Doors - Light My Fire video from 1968. The guitar riffs are still as powerful and with lyrics like...

The time to hesitate is through
No time to wallow in the mire
Try now we can only lose
And our love become a funeral pyre

Enough said!

Tom Petty & The Heart Breakers - Greatest Hits

Super album and one of my favorites.

Also, check out the Traveling Wilburys, a super group consisting of Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, and Jim Keltner. I have both their albums.
