sam9s HTPC Project! powered by XBMC!!

The bitstream option appears in powerdvd after you start a movie with hd audio. Its a weird bug. Did you try ffdshow with mpc-hc? It works for sure.

I could not get the option even when I play video song with DTS-MA,I installed mpc-hc,ffdshow after your suggestion but ffdshow is a tricky to configure I don't know how to configure properly after installing it with few selection related to audio still the same problem.Actually if the htpc bitstream you cann't control audio in media player am I correct but still I could control audio and mute audio in my pc media player .

I have attached my Onkyo HTS 3400's display while playing video I got same for all even while playing flac file.

you aren't able to bitstream HD audio or you are not able to bitstream audio at all ...?????? I would say use TMT5 over Power DVD. I have not used Power DVD so I have to look in to it to see what is missing.

Also which skin are you using in XBMC. Is library mode on .. ?????

Actually I could not understand whether if there any bitstream happening or not, because as per my understanding if we bitstream audio we couldn't control audio (there is no change in audio volume when we move the audio control slider left and right and even we can't mute the audio by pressing speaker icon in player) in pc side but I could control audio volume and mute volume in pc software players.More than this I always got dts symbol while playing HD MA audio video file as well as mp3 audio song.

I am using Aeon MQ 2 yes library mode is on.

Guys:

I need some help. I got inspiration from this thread, pulled out my 8 year old PC,
which had the following config:
Intel P4 2.6 Ghz, 1.5 mb RAM, Creative Audigy 2 ZS sound card.
Found that my ATI AIW Radeon 9800 Pro went bad, hence replaced
it with XFX ATI HD 4650 AGP video card,
reinstalled XP (updated to SP3) and installed XBMC.

Now everything is working fine, except that XBMC takes close to 100% CPU
even when idle.

I googled and found that there are lots of people already facing this problem
but there seems to be no definite solution.

Anyone here faced/faces this problem?. If so how do we fix it?.

The HD 4650 card supports hardware acceleration, do I have to do anything
to off-load the load to GPU? Problem is the 100% utilization is not while
playing any movie, even at idle so I am not sure if this would help.

I read a few possible fixes from the net and would give a try this evening and
report back. Meanwhile anyone has any suggestions/solutions please reply
back.

Thank you.

That is just two channel being output. Please read this guide to setup bitstreaming correctly.

Thank you for the link,Actually I downloaded all the files related to my gpu and os but still there is something wrong but the link provided by come in handy based on the site I downloaded "ATI HDMI Audio Device" from Realtek site.I could bitstream audio (DTS,Dolby) using PowerDVD11 but I could not get DTS MA while playing the video with DTS MA still I am getting DTS only for this video.I have the following display while playing DTS MA video

I further go through AMD & XFX sites but there is no file related to HDMI specific ony catalyst control center, display drive, ocl kind of file.I downloaded a document related to HDMI from XFX site and go through the document provided in xfx site they mentioned windows audio setup look like this

But my sytem's present audio setup shows like this

Which XFX card are you using?. Are you using a DVI to HDMI adapter?.

Coincidentally I was looking at the same document (XFX HDMI Audio setup.pdf)
and it has mentioned that if you use a DVI to HDMI adapter you will need
an ATI revision B (or later) DVI-HDMI adapter.

I could not understand what you are talking about I have hdmi port in my gpu why should I use DVI-HDMI adapter more than that dvi port won't give audio only video.

PowerDVD does not bitstream DTS-MA or Dolby TrueHD from mkvs. It will only do it from bluray/bluray dumps. Please try with MPC-HC and see if it works.

@reignofchaos, thank you for immediate reply actually I could not even get dts, dolby pass thru using ffdshow, mpchc I followed everything given in that website but no use only thing I could achieve dts, dolby pass thru in powerdvd.

I tried TotalMedia Theatre 5 also but I could not find any option to bitstream audio.PowerDVD could bitstream DTS,Dolby but no DTSMA for MKV file (I am not sure about that but reignofchaos told like that)

Value, you need to first setup your audio settings like discribed in the link regionofchaos shared ...

soundproperties.jpg

Then load TMT and click on AV center, use HDMI as output mode and under mixing mode choose "Original Primary Audio Only" This last step is important.

tmtw.jpg

When this is done play your MKV. When the file is playing right click anywhere on the screen and choose "Information" from the menu. This would give you details for the A/V. For audio you should see DTS MA Passthrough or Dolby TrueHD Passthrough. Which is what bitstreaming is .....

@Sivakuru ... I think you are stretching it too much for the good old P4 ....:) Even RAM I am not sure if its sufficient ......only the GPU seems to be decent enough .......though the min requirement for XBMC is p4, but a dual core is recommended ...... are you using XBMC on a fresh XP install ....????
Try using XBMC Live or OpenELIC ..... and see if that makes a difference. Atleast increase the ram to 2 GB ......

I just glanced through few very strange replies in this thread. Anyway, to get the HD codecs working on your system, you got to do EDID override for your monitor, based on your avr edid settings.

Follow this thread to know more: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1227161

All you need to do is upload two moninfo files on that thread. The thread owner tulli will give you one file (you can actually create one yourself, if you want) and you need to update your monitor driver. Read the thread closely for more details.

I had the similar problem but I was able to restore the HD decoding problem on my now sold onkyo 3300. This problem is actually more prevalent with the Onkyos.
