Any Reviews on this piece in India? There are many uv filter peeling issue comments on American forums and I wanted to find out about any first hand reviews in India.

I have asked the Samsung store to ask a service manager to clarify if the peeling issue exists in India, too and if it is covered under warranty as well.

Comments from owners would help. Thanks!

Peeling of what, it is not clear.

Whether the panel's top layer is peeling off?

cheers,

If there is peeling it will be covered under warranty. Don't see why it shouldn't be.

Get this set, live with it for some time. From what I've read it seems a fantastic display.

It would have been easy to verify if store displayed this set. The problem could be confined to certain regions.

Did you inquire about Panasonic GT30?

GT30 in 65 inch is not available atm. There is no store with a display of the 64 inch D8000 either. The store assures there is no problem but I don't want to take a chance with a 2L set.

If there are any owners out there do let me know. Thanks!

Did a brief review today. Flickerfree and strain free 3D on this year's plasma and this one is also no exception. Almost NO CROSS TALKS! 3D looks tiny even on this monster while 2D is obviously grand.

Its available in Bangalore showrooms for display (especially Samsung exclusive). I have got the best price as 1.93Lac with 1 3D glass and Ultra Slim Wall Mount kit. Let me know if anyone's interested (stocks are still in 1 or 2 quantity at a time like 51D550).

hi prankey

what about the peeling issue? any update? will they deliver to delhi?

thanks in advance
Screen was looking absolutely fine with real glass finish. Not sure if the filter is behind the glass but as I closely observed on the demo piece, no peeling issue.

Also, I tried to hear "buzz" at different places on the TV, NOTHING could be heard on that reasonably quite shop.

Yes it can be delivered to Delhi/NCR without an issue (except for stock availability). Most probably shipping should be around 3K.

I bought this TV on Sunday, got delivery last night.

The picture quality is fantastic out of the box. Will post my opinion once I have spent some time with it.

Surrealistix,

Congrats on your purchase. The 64D8000 is indeed a great looking TV and is on my wishlist too. I would love a review too, if possible, with pictures. Look out for peeling issues though.

Regards,
Sunil

Peeling issues would be seen only after 3 to 4 weeks of use i,e when the Plasma has covered at least 15 to 20 on off and heat cycles. Majority of Sets in the US as well as UK are affected by this. Since all the 64 inch Samsung Plasma panels are manufactured in Korea and shipped worldwide it is most likely to affect sets sold in India as well. Unfortunately this is not a repairable defect. The entire Plasma panel needs to be changed.

I will do some basic calibration using test patterns this weekend and then take some picture and post my opinion.

So far, I don't see any peeling, I have done about six hours, so will be keeping an eye on the corners everyday.

I am so happy with the TV, I am really hoping that it doesn't start peeling!!

Here is the update:

I have been keeping an eye on the peeling issue - nothing so far. It's been about 20 hours of usage so far.

I used a calibration setting I found on AVS forum with the 10 point white balance settings. Flesh tone looks so natural - it's unbelievable!

The black levels are way better than the LED I had briefly and better than my earlier Pioneer Plasma TV for sure.

I can hear some buzzing when I am a couple of inches away from the TV, nothing beyond that - this is with pin drop silence in my bedroom with the fan and AC turned off. So - no buzzing issue.

I haven't tested the 3D features as yet,so will post back once I get the 3D glasses. As for the Smart TV features - I love the ability to stream media from a uPNP share from my HTPC, other than that I don't really care too much about the Smart TV features as I prefer using my HTPC over the Smart TV features.

Overall, I am pleased as punch with this TV. Have my fingers crossed about the peeling issue.

Thanks for the brief review, dude. I believe 1 3D glass come with the TV?

Does this TV really support uPNP or are you talking of DLNA using proprietary software?

I need to follow up with the dealer about the free 3D glass that was supposed to come with the TV.

Not sure if it's uPNP or DLNA. The TV picks up my Media Player 11 and XBMC running on my HTPC on my home network and these show up as Source just like HDM1, PC etc

thanks for the review. i'm now tempted to get one myself - i just wish they had a display unit somewhere in delhi/gurgaon to take a look before jumping
