Samsung 64D8000

thanks for the review. i'm now tempted to get one myself - i just wish they had a display unit somewhere in delhi/gurgaon to take a look before jumping
There is 1 quantity still available in Bangalore (sealed pack). Could be shipped for 1.96 Lacs including shipping. Let me know if you are interested. Its with bill and covers transit insurance directly from Samsung India.

thanks for the offer - there are at least 5-7 pieces in delhi. best price i have is 1,98,000 but would rather pick it up from here - easier to coordinate with the store here.

will update once i have it installed. should arrive friday.

2 quantity currently available for immediate shipping from Bangalore. Bangalore customers can pay on Cash On Delivery.

So the best price of Rs. 1.93L in Bangalore and rest of Karnataka. Rs.2k for shipping to Hyderabad and Chennai and 3k for shipping to the rest of major Cities in India.

Let me know if someone is interested before stocks last again.

Prankey,

Would you know which Samsung outlet in Bangalore has a display of this model?

Prankey,

I saw it at Devi International Jayanagar and Samsung Plaza at Outer Ring Road at BTM Layout.

Currently most of the good outlets should have it as recently about 20+ quantity was delivered.

I need to follow up with the dealer about the free 3D glass that was supposed to come with the TV.

Not sure if it's uPNP or DLNA. The TV picks up my Media Player 11 and XBMC running on my HTPC on my home network and these show up as Source just like HDM1, PC etc
Dude, I would appreciate if you could post snaps of the remote controller which came with the TV. I believe its a touch screen remote like in 55D8000, however one of the dealers here was telling its a regular remote.

It's a regular remote :(

I was really hoping for a remote with keyboard.

Wow! The website says TM1180 touch screen remote. Could you please post a snap of the remote? You should ask Samsung why didn't you get the touch screen remote as mentioned on the site (they have updated information for 55D8000 as "regular remote" from TM1180 earlier). Not sure what they are up to.

This is what you should have got as per the Samsung India site: http://homegadgetstechnology.com/samsung-tm1180-remote-products-and-review/

i purchased the set on thursday.

so far the experience with samsung and dawar (the dealer) in gurgaon has been very poor.

the remote is a regular remote and i have already called the corporate office to clarify and have taken a screen shot of the samsung 64 inch plasma page (the indian website still says tm1180 touch screen remote)

it is VERY IRRITATING to navigate the smart tv functions via regular remote. also, unless i have a galaxy ii phone or tablet i cannot navigate the tv software without using the on screen keyboard.

the wifi will not connect to the router. again, waiting on samsung to send an engineer to resolve.

given the price of the tv, if samsung does not resolve the remote and other issues, i will be compelled to ask for a refund.

picture quality is good, but i am not an expert on this.

oh, and i was made to wait 6 hours for delivery with no delivery on thursday, delivery and installation happened in my absence on friday.

please avoid dawar's open world dealerships, at any cost. will update regarding samsung.

still no visit or call from samsung - does anyone here have a senior samsung manager's contact number?
It it TM 950? Can you please attach the snaps shots?

I have their Karnataka Product (TV) Manager's contact. Will check with him if he could share Gurgaon or Delhi's Manager number.

the remote is a bare bones piece - model number AA59-00434A. it's sad that for such an expensive unit, the remote is so basic, and samsung's response is so poor.

no 3d glass, no ultra slim wall mount, no touch remote. smart tv functions can barely be navigated, why spend 2L for a set when the LG 60PZ550 is available for 1.1L?

I got the same remote - AA59-00434A

I followed up with my dealer about the 3D glass which was supposed to come along with the TV, he first said that the TV doesn't come with a 3D glass, after I insisted a bit, he agreed to follow up with Samsung and has promised to get 1 pair of glasses within the next couple of days.

I will follow up on the remote as well.

well my dealer does not respond! i have gotten through a senior manager at samsung, will update.

are you able to use the smart tv features conveniently?

Using the Smart TV features using the remote that came with the TV is frustrating.

I got the TV to connect to my wireless router without any problems.

I don't use the Smart TV features at all as I have an HTPC connected to my TV with XBMC running on it and I use a wireless keyboard with a touchpad.

Having looked at the picture of the remote that should have come with the TV, we should collectively make sure we get the remote that was advertised on Samsung's website.

It's been 10 days since I got the TV - no peeling issues as yet!

if the tv costs 2L+ and smart features are so heavily advertised, they must include it - i agree we should collectively push for it.

the smart alecs at samsung tell you "dealer toh kuchh bhi bol deta hai" and "website pe kuchh bhi likh dete hain"

and senior managers tell you - the website has an "international" description, what is written on the website may not be included, and to check the box!!!

a d550 in 64 inches should be available in six months at a price below 1.50. i would much rather return the d8000 and buy two lgs for two bedrooms, and a HTPC!

I started thinking I would buy d7000 but now thinking about the d550. Just get a Sony BDP-S780 3D Builtin WiFi BR Player for less than $200 and you are set for all smart features as well.
