There's no doubt about Samsung's quality of customer service. It is pathetic, and that is putting it mildly

Yes but they don't hesitate to refund if they understand that we are unhappy with their product and they could not resolve an issue.

So, I can not say their service is bad as I nevertheless have the last option to take a full refund.

they've hesitated plenty in my case! they also have promised a refund but it is now 3 weeks and it has still not been processed! in the first week they were not even open to the refund idea - it's only after the set started peeling did they hint at it. any idea how to speed up this mess?

Yes they take 20 to 40 days to process the refund. It happens through their head office in Noida. Escalate to the Service Manager at your place to speed up refund process if you are certain that is what you need now.
 
20 to 40 days is the time period, mostly takes longer than 40 days. In my case 70 days for the refund. Happy !!!!atleast I got my money.:)
 
they've not picked up the set - is it picked up first, then refunded or they pay out a cheque first and then pick up the unit?
 
Varuntuli, users on avsforum and highdefjunkies have talked about an a supposed internal service bulletin from Samsung that possibly fixes the screen peeling issue. You might want to try your luck with a replacement set. Just make sure that you speak to Samsung Tech support and when & if you get a new set, ask then to incorporate the rubber beading between the bezel & the panel. This is the fix that gives a few mm space between the bezel and the Plasma panel allowing for expansion and contraction & better heat dissipation that may avoid future real black filter peeling on these panels

i gave samsung both options - to replace the set or refund. they said they would not be replacing the set and will issue a refund, which they have and picked up the set. to get into samsung internal service issues is not my cup of tea, i would much rather buy a less expensive set right now and wait for samsung to introduce a better / new model.

i still don't know what other options there are!

Screen Peeling! MAJOR Peeling. I am still looking for a replacement.

I suggest you save funds, go for 51D550 or 50VT20 (its still available in Croma Janakpuri @ 71k for fresh unit). Wait for OLED TVs in the following 2 years to upgrade later ;)
 
its surprising to see so many issues with a new 3D model. I personally stay away from 3D. I bought the 58" Sammy plasma last year and till now i am pretty happy with the same same, no issues, currently running on the latest firmware update and pretty smooth.
