Samsung LAB650 OWNERS DISCUSSION, REVIEWS & OPINION

I am surely interested in this model... Please can you share the details of the vendor.

The distributor has ran out of stock. I did not able to get a delivery as well. Incidentally the model is mostly dried in the market as well. if available, people are quoting at least 75k now.

Let know if this is still available at 72K range.

Visited Hypercity today. They do not have any stock of the Samsung LA 40B650. Only had a display piece which was priced at 80K (no negotiations). They were also pushing for SAMSUNG LEDs.

Hi,

I have a LA40B650 LCD TV. Can some one tell me which firmware to use for enabling internet@tv. I tried UK firmware. Internet@TV works but AV1, AV2 is not recognized.

Also has some one tried DLNA features? I have not got the same to work.

with regards
DV

Samsung named LCD TV market leader

October 20, 2009

Samsung Electronics sold one million units of its first full line of advanced LED HDTVs over a six month period from their launch in March, making it leader of the global LED TV market.

The company holds 90% of the global LED market, and hopes to sell 3.7 million units in 2009.

The company was also recognised as leader in the LCD TV market, in Frost & Sullivans 2009 Award for Market Leadership of the Year.

Samsung leads the global LCD TV market, achieving a share of over 22% in 2008.

Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Karthik Kamalakannan said: Samsung LCD TVs are increasingly preferred despite the higher average selling price, thus establishing them as premium products among competition.

Samsung also announced its Internet@TV feature which allows widgets for streaming content from Blockbuster On Demand and Amazon Video On Demand services using the Internet@TV feature offered on LCD and Plasma HDTVs Series 650 and above and LED-backlit HDTVs Series 7000 and above.

Good News!!! I am a proud Samsung LCD Owner.... Others RIP :)

Hi,
I intend to buy this tv, but sadly its not available anywhere in Bangalore.
There is only one place I could find it and this guy says that its packed and sealed and he will not open it up for demo.
So does anybody know any shop that might have this for demo.
I am curious as to why this is not available, is that Samsung wants to discontinue this model.

Also does anybody know service menu code for this model, in case i buy it i would like to check usage hours so as to make sure that i have not been sold a demo piece.

Thanks

Model being discontinued is a big rumour.
People in UK are still buying this model

Its not widely available in india because samsung wants to sell its costly Initial test version of LED Tvs in INDIA.

For service menu----
List is ---
1) Press ---> INFO-MENU-MUTE-POWER to access SERVICE MENU

2) Press return 10 secs, select OK, B650 carries out internal diagnosis and produces a report.

3) Press Exit 10 secs, select OK, B650 resets all settings to default values (caution TV has to be re tuned)

Hey B650 owners..Good news...

New hacked firmware by New Age is great !!!!!

This firmware modification tries to fix (or at least make it better) the picture scaling option of the media player in Samsung B650.
In the tools menu of the media player the "Picture Size" menu item now has these options:

Fit.............. same as in original firmware (fit the video to full screen by assuming 1:1 pixel aspect ratio)
Original......... same as in original firmware
Full Screen...... stretch the video to full panel screen (1366x768 or 1920x1080)
4:3.............. 4:3 pixel aspect ratio
Non Anamorph..... non anamorph aspect ratio (the average of PAL and NTSC non anamorph ITU-R BT.601 Standard aspect ratio)
16:9............. 16:9 pixel aspect ratio
Anamorph......... anamorph aspect ratio (the average of PAL and NTSC anamorph ITU-R BT.601 Standard aspect ratio)
1.85:1........... 1.85:1 pixel aspect ratio
2.35:1........... 2.35:1 pixel aspect ratio
2.37:1........... 2.37:1 pixel aspect ratio
2.39:1........... 2.39:1 pixel aspect ratio
2.76:1........... 2.76:1 pixel aspect ratio

Hello guys,
I have 40B650.
Any idea on the giga-byte limit on the NTFS formatted external drive (with external power supply)?
It seems that the device supports upto 500gig, but I am not sure. Has anyone tried 1TB stuff connected to this TV?
I also asked for help at cnet forum, here is the response from Samsung:

Samsung Series 6 - Media Player - External Drive - Support - New!

I'm not aware of any size limitations for any specific devices, although some posters have noted that they've been able to get a 1TB drive to connect with success. I don't know about the 1.5TB.

Tested 1 TB SEAGATE EXTERNAL NTFS and works fine. Do not have a 1.5 TB.
Technically Size will not matter but yes as the no of folders increased above 100, it becomes a bit slow for LCD to recognize.

Guyz

I planning to buy a DLNA Supported LCD TV. Preferably Sammy !

Can the recent buyers tell me whether the B650 has got Ethernet Port & Digital Output.

Diff between B650 & B750 apart from 200hz

I'm in Chennai & as said in this forum B650 & B750 are not there in any of the showrooms. Samsung is just pushing their LED TV's

Thx.

Samsung LA40B650 has DLNA Support. Ethernet Port and Digital output for Audio.

Difference iI found is
1) Cost
2) 200 HZ vs 100 HZ
3) contrast ratio increased bec of LED.

If u get Samsung B650..U r lucky just Grab it!!
