I have a few questions that I would like to ask you guys regarding the Samsung B750.

1. The Samsung B750 is said to have the Internet@TV feature. But from what I know, the models available in India do not seem to support that feature, is that true? I mean, have you seen any FRESH OUT OF THE BOX B750 unit with working widgets and everything?

2. My friend has a 40B750 and the serial number and the model code suggest that the panel is actually an AUO. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I've read everywhere that a 40 inch AUO B750 SQ02 is very rare. So, I don't know if he just got plain lucky or if there's actually something fishy going on.

3. For some reason, he can't update his firmware via the LAN cable attached to the back of his TV. He always has to do the USB thumb drive install thingy. From what I know, the B750 actually supports automatic FW updates through the TV itself, but somehow, the version available in India simply can't do all those things. There is an option to test the Network Settings and they all work just fine, but when you try to access a feature, it simply doesn't work. Any reasons for that?

Update : I managed to get a couple of Widgets(Youtube, Weather) to work by changing the InfoLink Area setting in the SERVICE MENU to Malaysia. I did not have to change anything else. What can I do to access the complete set of widgets? Can they be downloaded on the PC via some website and then copied onto flash thumb drive or we'll have to wait for a separate FW update?

I would really appreciate if you could answer the above for me.

Thanks

Anmol

None of televisions in India support INTERNET@TV function by default.

This is really a debatable topic with no conclusions at all. A lot has been said and discussed about panels, Some feel AUO is best while some have also found CMO is the best. So may be he is lucky if he is happy.

Firmware over air is future option not available at all in india. With USB we can easily upgrade with no probs at all.

This is really a good find. I will implement and get back with feedback.

I just bought a 46LAB650 recently and it does not have an optical out. I thought I should put that out in case somebody is interested in buying and is looking for that feature.

Thank you for appreciating this thread.
Yea changing info link works good

Have you tried Sammygo's Firmware..?

Well Zabak, I haven't tried out SAMYGO yet. Going thru various forums on this to gain knowledge before applying in my TV.

BTW, Mediatomb DLNA server works perfectly with my TV.

Tried UK Firmware ver.3000. Widgets working perfectly, but for the speed. did a test tweet & reverted to Indian firmware ver.2004, since USB ports were not getting detected in UK firmware. Didn't do much research, since widgets were too slow in loading and typing through onscreen keyboard is awful xperience.

If you dont mind me asking this , but what was the purchase price for this TV ?

@illusion

Outflow for me is 80K. I bargained from 116K to 85K and got an additional 5K discount on SCB CC cash back offer. I didn't take the free 22" LCD TV offer of samsung and ezone's new year scratch card offer.

Wow excellent bargaining !

I enquired about the LA46B650 model in Bangalore - Unilet and eZone (Marathalli) doesn't have stock but said they can get it in few weeks time. Croma guy said they have just one display piece left and quoted 1.04 L for that!
Mani,
Which eZone you got it from?
Can anyone in Bangalore tell me where in Bangalore this model is available?

RE: Digital audio output

My TV is a LA40B650T1R. It does not have a digital output for audio. What a disappointment, as the media player seems to be very good. Some of the other model variants do indeed have digital audio out, but not model LA40B650T1R.

If only Samsung would make available a retrofit of the other I/O panels that do have digital audio out...

if any of you r interested in buying Samsung LA40B650 it is available at Croma Stores at High Street Phoenix, Lower Parel, mumbai. Phone: +91 22-6141 3700.
