Samsung Plasma 51F5500 Owners Thread /Reviews/Discussions!!

Actually, the internal media player is useless, audio extraction from that does not help. However audio from other sources is far better. Someone already posted this awhile back. For a proper setup an external audio is recommended.

i understand. leave alone internet audio. why is the internet media player useless?
also, is the audio from normal DTH viewing reasonably good? with respect to loudness and clarity? I dont want much, but it should like most leds right?

Can confirm that Info + Menu + Mute + Power combo works for service menu. Mine shows 170 mins as usage after running for few hours.
Glasses are the default two.
Also update the latest firmware 1121, preinstalled was 1117.
Manufacture date is June 2014, meaning this is still very much in production

Now for initial issue. The sound is worst I have heard anywhere. The speakers are thumping, verbrating at all types of audio. Dunno if this is a problem for which to raise a call tag with support. Any helpers?

Seems pretty bad....did you raise a call with Samsung support?....what did Samsung say?....what would you rate the 3d?....comaparable to led?...and how bad is the picture under lights?

Thanks

Sorry No idea on comp with led.

I would, once I am thru with my part of testing. Another update on extended warranty....
Received call from the call center rates quoted verbally were 3.4/5.4/8.4 k for 1/2/3 years warranty. The issue is they were not ready to put that quote on email, two the cheque needs to be in the name of the service center not Samsung India. Would check again with some other source.

Hi,Thanks friends for all your words, today finally we got the F5500 Plasma Tv. In Kolkata it costs me 71900 with free Airtel HD Box and 1 Year extended warranty. I down paid 20k and rest on 12 EMI at 0% interest rate :) Tv will be installed tomorrow.
Now my quarries,
1. I have heard so many times about break-in slides, where can I get this slides ?
2. What would be the optimal settings for 1st 200 Hrs ?

How is your experience using this tv? Did you opt for any extended warranty?

i have purchased it from Electronics Forum B.T.Road,Agaortala. @Shuv,Now what is GIYF ? The picture I found best in Dynamic mode, with my room lighting ( one tube light on the side wall ) , one thing am concerned is the sales man told me the cost of electricity would be much higher than the 42 inch LED tv , it would be 800-1000 Rs/month extra than LED tv,if I wach the tv daily for say 6-8 hours.

Pic mode should be normal. Do not watch in Dynamic mode during the the initial 200hrs. Later you can change in to Dynamic if needed. But I found normal or movie mode is comfortable. For the initial setting go through the thread. It was posted many times in this same thread.

I do not think the electricity bill go high by Rs.800-1000

hi I ordered this tv yesterday. dealer saying not available with any dealer in kolkata at the moment will take a week! So can you suggest any other shop where it might be available now? Want it before Puja's start! :D any help would be appreciated!

Guys since Plasma is EOL for samsung as well, and this tv is also discontinued i think, is it recommended to buy this? I really am inclined towards it and ordered it as well but almost no one has it in stock but 1 week me someone will give it to me.
so what if something goes wrong with the TV? the warranty, spares? will it have a very high chance of no repair or huge costs?

Samsung will pay back the money to you. They wil calculate depreciation charge I guess at 20% per year. So take extended warranty and enjoy.
Or may offer a 5 series LED.

Also, even in case of LED's company do not have same panel after 1-2 years and offer refund/replacement.

that sounds quite reasonable! So, the extended warranty, where does one buy that? directly from Samsung or from my dealer? I think I asked my dealer about it and he told that I have to get it DIRECTLY from samsung.
Btw, someone told that there is offer of 1 yr extended warranty now on this tv.can anyone confirm? my dealer is denying such offer, but is saying skype camera + some airtel dth offer

Two queries ... One I bought the TV on 7sept and it seems the diwali offers starts from 10 Sept.... Any ideas how I can try claim Diwali offers. Two I spoke to the cust center for extended warranty and he clearly said to get it from service center and cheque too in their name, that they cannot even share the quote over email or share the terms.... Any clue if so is the case?

Thats the case. They are keeping it as best kept secret. Why they hesitate in sending it to us via email or why they do not take cheque in their name itself suggest that they are not in a mood to take RESPONSIBILITY.

No legal recourse to them in case of a fault as you cannot prove that Samsung India asked you to give cheque to them.

Very very strange indeed.

that does sound weird. can anyone who has actually bought extended warranty for this tv or other samsung device tell their experience?
regarding buying the warranty,
service after intial, i,e. during extended period etc?

Also, does the diwali offer have one year extended warranty included or Not?

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
