Samsung Tv is dead,no spare parts available, what to do?

Guys,
I got the news today that the mother board is still not available anywhere.Infact,I found this when I called the service centre guy,to know the status of the mother board. They didn't bother to call me.I found them to be very unprofessional.I am back to square one again.

Very sorry to hear about your plight mate.

I had a Samsung Plasma 65" that I bought in Oct 2014 for Rs.1.85L. In Sep 2015, I bought additional 3 yrs extended warranty for Rs.15.5K. In March'16, the panel developed a problem - there was a constant vertical line on the panel.

The Samsung service folks looked at it and said that they do not have the spare panel anymore and they'll buy back the TV. Subsequently, I got a call from Samsung, Gurgoan and they quoted 18% depreciation and agreed to pay Rs.1.55L for the TV. I asked them about the extended warranty I had paid and they did not agree to refund that amount. The guy who called me cut the phone abruptly and closed my ticket saying "Service refused".

I got furious - these guys are very unprofessional. I somehow connected w/ the Samsung's Service country manager through my professional network. He re-opened the case for me and arranged for a prorated refund of my extended warranty as well. So I got Rs.1.55L + Rs.12K as refund. I lost about Rs.35K for owning the TV for 18 months.

But the experience dealing w/ these guys is harrowing. I'm hearing from a lot of folks that Samsung's TV line up is not robust and has a lot of problems. For that matter it's true for all the TVs these days. These things are not built to last - they just crap out in 2-4 years. Very sorry state of affairs indeed!!

I'm yet to replace my TV - as I'm still deciding what to buy next!! Definitely not Samsung.

Sometimes, I feel its just better to go w/ a Projector than buy an expensive LED TV. Atleast your capital investment is much lower for a not so bad movie watching experience!!

Good luck pal!! Hang in there and take care !!

Thanks for the reply buddy. The samsung service centre people are rude and not at all co-operative.I am wexed with all this, and thinking about going through outside channels for the mother board,or thinking about buying a new TV.

Firstly guys I'm sorry if anyone thinks I'm trolling here.
Had a very bad experience with the Samsung Customer care , my Samsung LED TV went bad and had to be behind them for close to 4 months and then they finally agreed to pay 33k for the TV.
There was no clear communication between their central customer care and local Customer care.
I would advise people to stay away from Samsung.

Guys,
I rejected the offer made by Samsung to take back the TV.Initially they said they will give 20% of what I paid originally, now they agreed for 30%,but I am not interested in losing that TV.Also I wasn't happy with the attitude of service centre guys.I consulted one of the private TV repair guys for mother board repair/replacement.He said it is available in Chennai, but it will take some time.I am now watching Samsung 43E400 plasma TV,but I am not satisfied with it,so bought a VU 55 LED smart TV yesterday for Rs 49,500.Waiting for installation, will update about the quality of TV later.

I would say 30% refund is a fair deal for a 4 year old TV which is not under warranty. For comparison, LG offered 15% for a four year old Plasma and added another 20% as I had an external warranty.

Even if you repair through a private service center, you never know how long the TV would last. Sorry for the contrary opinion, but this is what I did when I was in your position.

samsung seems to be one of the worst in india, & thats saying something

even i had a bad experience with them

no company in US/Eur would dare treat consumers like they do here. main issue is there's no way we can fight back. if we went route of consumer court etc & if we somehow even won the compensation is negligible unlike abroad where the penalties would be very costly

sadly dont see things improving as companies here seem to eb trying to outdo each other in how badly they treat customers

30% refund is somewhat reasonable,I agree with that, but I don't trust these guys. They are saying you have to give everything you received at the time of purchase.I received 4 3D glassesa and 1 20 inch LCD at the time of purchase. The LCD is working fine,I am using it as a monitor. If I don't want to give the LCD back, maybe they will charge full amount for that, like 10,000 Rs.There are a lot of combinations involved in that, and I don't want to get into that.As I said earlier I don't want to deal with Samsung anymore, the attitude of service centre guys is pathetic.Money is not important to me,I simply don't want to lose that TV.Even if it doesn't work,I can hang it in some room, just as a show piece.Even if they give 1 lakh to me,I am not giving the TV back to them.

Now I understand why you refused to accept Samsung's deal. It's totally unethical to demand back the freebies when the problem is with the TV. Let's say if one of the 3D glasses or LCD TV had any issues within warranty period, would they fix it for free? I'm damn sure they won't.

As another poster said, these companies are taking us for a ride.

Have you tried to look for parts on eBay.com , kindly post the pic of the board or model number and stuff, maybe some one can locate it

Call up the Samsung Service Center guys and have them give you the part number for the broken motherboard. Then get online (specifically ebay) and search for it yourself. Chances are there are other people somewhere across the globe that have the same TV model with a broken panel (or another problem) and are willing to sell parts.

I'm having the same trouble with my 40" Sony and found 2 people in the US selling the motherboards. Sony is still looking for a motherboard though. I'm just working in parallel coz I'm sure as hell they ain't gonna find a new motherboard for my set. And a new motherboard costs 18k. They will most likely offer me 25% discount on MRP which I would probably take coz my set is over 9 years old now.

And here's (probably) why, the motherboard for your TV is not available. By law (not in India but for sure in US, which these companies follow), the manufacturers are liable to manufacture parts for only 5 years. Chances are when you bought your TV, it may have been the previous year's design model. That plus 4 years of ownership may have sealed the fate. This may or may not really be true in your case. Just a possibility in my opinion.

And given that a lot of people have spoken about Samsung's customer care, I've personally been anti-Samsung for over a decade now having faced issues with a Samsung CRT monitor and a crashed Samsung Hard Drive.
P.S. - I did not buy the Hard Drive. Came with a PC.

To get an idea of what the members here use, I am starting a poll to see what brand of TV folks are using. Just the brand....not going deep down to the model. Please go and vote.

I had problems with he same samsung tv model you had but somehow could scrape though with minimal damage The first Tv I bought had developed panel issues within one year.Luckily the local service centre did arrange for a replacement set the second set also developed motherboard issues within one year then after long correspondence with Samsung they agreed the will take back the tv at eighty percentage of the price I paid to which I have agreed and bought an Epson projector model 2030 which has beef trouble free so far So what I feel it is a universal problem with Led tvs and also apply to mobile phones as well
