Hi Guys,

I'm posting some of the pics of Samsung UA40D5000 LED TV. Panel is AA01.
I didn't wall mount it yet. So this is just a temporary setup. Bought this beauty for 55.3 k. I already have Sony 32 V-series but its just HD ready.
So I cant compare between these two.

Initial impressions..
The SD channels picture Quality (Tata Sky) is Good.
This TV really excels in HD context.
The best I have seen till now (Iam not an expert). Tata Sky HD channels were really awesome. Bluray playback is awesome.
From USB it plays all formats including subtitles (I have tried mkv, mp4 and avi).
The picture quality of 720p movies is awesome. The 720p movie is a BD converted file.
Normal 700MB movies are average.

I didn't attach Bluray playback pics as I didn't connect my Bluray player yet.
These pics are taken from my phone. So not sure abt clarity.

These are my initial impressions. I will add some more later.

Sajjad.

the sd content display is lower in this model than in last years C series... but hd content excels over the c series... doesnt seem to be true 100hz, more like pseudo 100hz, whatever that means in their ambiguous language...

Hey sajjad4joy, congrats once again . Pics are great. But I think you need to calibrate your picture settings. The lower most pic from "The Proposal" looks very artificial and the skin tones are also not looking good. How about some fiddling here and there. Eagerly waiting for some more pics (preferably of scenes played through the blue ray player) from your side. Also, its time to upgrade to Tata sky HD now. Hope you will take this as a friendly advise. Keep enjoying.

Nice pics. Does it have crystal stand? Could not see in the pics.
I guess the flesh tone is too high, and also colors are too vibrant. Playing around with settings will improve it even more. Congrats and enjoy the new toy.

For all owners of this TV -

This has additional sharing features over your home network. I have connected this Tv to my home network via ethernet cable. The one's that I am using are -

1. Use your android phone as a remote for this TV. I am using my Samsung EPIC 4G (or any Android 2.1/2 based phone) to control this TV. The app needed from Android market is Samsung Remote. Install that and voila your phone is now controlling your TV
2. Play files/videos wirelessly from your phone/pc to this TV - Install AllsharePCSW.exe on your PC from here - Allshare Download Page (contains software and quick start guide) and voila share your PC's entire directory, movies, music, pictures etc. wirelessly to your TV. I am using Allshare software also from my phone to "wirelessly" play videos and pictures onto my this Samsung LED TV...

now thats technology...

@shyam.b - yes, it comes with pure glass crystal stand as standard; though build quality of the stand in last years series of these led tv's was better and heavier... cost cutting, I presume...

Congrats on this purchase. Could you tell us from which shop in Hyderabad you purchased this from. How much does the UA40D5500, which is termed as smart TV would cost? Is there any possibility of getting SS or SP panel sets?

Well i tried searching for the SQ panels but as of now i wasn't able to spot one.All had the AA01.
The D5500 costs about 5k more, got a quote of 61k in samsung plaza and 64k in croma.

In order to make it smart you need to install the applications. This tv the one i saw again had a AA panel.

For D5500 , I was Quoted 58k by Samsung Plaza, Banjara Hills. But for that you need to wait for another 3-4 days as stocks are not there. I didn't find any SQ or SS panels. So the next best thing is AA, so I went for that. D5500 had smart apps installed. And Thanks Dheeraj for sharing the extra info.

Today Samsung technical guy has come and wall mounted my TV and also adjusted the colors, now its looking much better. I will post the pics soon.

Thanks, Samsung Plaza Banjara Hills (MLA Colony). D5500 was quoted 58k if you pay by cash. But stocks will be available next week.
All the Panles are AA. Hope this helps.

This is my LCD with Tata Sky HD. If you want to set your tvs picture setting buy a THX certified disc like Terminator 2 on Bluray or buy a Sony pictures movie on Bluray. If you buy Terminator 2 on Bluray there is a option in the menu to go to THX Optimizer and if you buy a sony pictures movie on bluray press 7669 when you on the menu and picture setting screen will come. Hope this helps. Tc.

Hey Sajjad congrats on the new TV, how did you find out the panel type, can we ask the dealer for a SS panel type, if they do allow how can we find what panel it is ??

^
Panel type is printed on the back along with serial number as Version No.; Dealer has got no control over the panel type afaik...

The term "panel lottery" is highly over rated; You dont need to worry too much with the type of panel used in most 2011 models; Rest assured all these panels are of good quality and present stunning hd pictures... The panel used on samsung led's are of better quality than the competition like sony etc. afaik and samsung is turning out to be the best component manufacturer in the world as on date...

I have to disagree with Dhiraj here that they are better than the competitors. I think LG's panels are better. PQ wise and skin tone wise, Samsung is better, but I found LG screens are brighter and have better viewing angles.
Dhiraj, you had CN panel on your C5000?

^
C5000 I have already disposed to a friend; panel type wasnt marked on that but I didnt find any lack of quality on C5000 either;

anyways what you are saying about lg is a matter of opinion; My opinion is based on facts available on international forums and industry information...
