Showcase Your Turntable

@gee_john: I hate you :lol:

I am sure there are others who would like to know how much that gorgeous table costs. Please share if possible. PM, if not :)

Cheers!

Not as nice as gee_john's or Asit's TTs, but my first TT - a Dual 1229.
It has a M91ED, with a very good original stylus, and my pre is
a VSPS assembled on a general purpose board. The VSPS sounds
excellent, esp considering it cost just about Rs 200! I plan to build
Rod Elliott's Subsonic filter ESP-99 soon.

I just completed a DIY full service/restoration of the 1229,
fixing all the issues as noted in this excellent post below on
another forum by Bill of FixMyDual.
In addition, I also changed the old flickering neon
strobe with a DIY LED based replacement.
It was a serious learning experience.
Nice Dual and VSPS.I will soon build my DIY phonostage designed by AK member Hypnotoad

Regards,

Sachin

Hi all,

I am new to this Forum and I'm a turntable maniac!
If I see a good TT, I have a compulsion to buy it. :D

It seems I can't upload more 5 pictures at a time, hence I will be showcasing just a few favourites from my collection of more than 15 TTs.

My favourite TT is AR XA with RB 251 arm Cardas wire and Shure 91 E cart. Then I also like the Technics SL 1200(1972) with stock arm. The other players I have are the Thorens Jubilee model (Limited edition),Thorens TD 126 Electronic Mark 2 with Jelco Arm, Sony PS 6750 DD turntable, Thorens TD 150 made by EMT with original tonearm, Lenco L-236 Belt drive TT, Gemini PT 2000 and many many more. I use Prologue one amplifier with Yaqin MS 12 B phono preamp and KLH Model 5 speakers.

Looking forward to contribute to the forum

Contd...
Sometime around April this year, I accidentally broke the stylus while cleaning my TT. I received the cart after re-tipping at Sound-smith earlier this month. Would like to thank member Anilva for carrying my Cart safely back from the US and also Jochen Semler (The Listening Room, Bangalore) who very kindly offered to help me set up the cart during the Bangalore Hi-Fi Meet.

Some pics of Jochen Semler setting up the TT with great care and precision :

Hi santosh, Great room and good set-up.
Does your Project have a motor hum that is reported by some people?
Abhijit
Thanks Abhijit, my TT does not have this hum issue. Also, the motor is decoupled from the plinth using rubber band like mechanism (visible in 4th picture of last picture..the one with the protractor on the platter).

Man!! What a thread!
Damm you all for having such expensive hobbies :)
Just make me wnat to rip out that cheque book and go shopping!!!

Doctorsaab,
I got my Cart retipped for $150 by Soundsmith. They do a fantastic job on re-tipping and were recommended to me by malvai, stevieboy and Rajiv. I am very happy with the retip especially because not many undertake a retip of an MC cartridge. Also at that time, a new Ortofon Rondo Red was retailing at $485 and I was not really in a position to buy one more. Since I did not have a backup TT or a backup cart, I went ahead with the $150 retip after reading about it. One thing we need to be aware is that Soundsmith has a lead time of 12 weeks. In my case, it was a little ~5 months without analogue sound:(. Now that my TT is back and spinning, am smiling ear to ear again:clapping:

They have 3 levels of retipping:
I opted for the $150 re-tip which comprises of a "Nude Elliptical" diamond tip with an aluminum alloy cantilever(as per original spec of my cart)

There are two other levels available like $250 and $350 re-tips. Details below:
Soundsmith: phono cartridge retipping and rebuilding

Good one :clapping: Waiting for Gobble's response:)
