Sony DVD Player help!!!

I have an sony dvd HTIB

Model No: Sony DAV DZ 290K

query:
1. I want to use it as an dvd player with my AVR. Will this be possible.

I has an HDMI output. I dont no its only meant for Video. I know HDMI can pass both audio and Video signal.. I dosnet have optical or coaxial output since its DVD HTIB.

Techies help me .

Hi, try connecting the HDMI output to the AVR and check whether sound is available. Some models won't support audio over hdmi.

I didnt try it. If it works I will use as dvd player or other wise use the total setup for my PC.

Here is the specs of your system Archived DAV-DZ290K : DVD Home Theatre System : Home Theatre System : Sony Middle East & Africa .
I hope HDMI is 1.3 version, in that case you will be able to get both Audio and Video. Specs didn't mentioned anything about which version HDMI is, but since it is 5.1 system and doesn't have any Digital Audio inputs it must be having HDMI 1.3 version capable to handle both Audio and Video.

Thanx baijuxavior. I found from the manual that there is an setting Audio(HDMI) ON/Off.:yahoo::yahoo:. I will try it when I go home.

Is 48khz/16 bit audio meant as 5.1 audio??

I used the dvd player to play dvds but the quality is very bad. The same vob file played in my media player the quality was excellent since it sends the dts audio. while the dvd player sends 48khz/ 16bits which is converted from DTS.
