No, I bought it without taking a audition. Last year I had heard sony and onkyo 3200, found onkyo to be clearer in surround sound -IMO.
I am not sure if modern world has kept it for demo. You could call them @08025358192 and check.

I have not tried to increase the volume more (never felt like going beyond 25), will try that today. Well whatever volume that I hear, well its not punchy (credit may be due to Passive sub) but for me it was overwhelming to watch movie. I had auditioned other onkyo product (dont know the model number) with active sub. Well 3300 sub is no match to it, but for an apartment (with the common wall living) use it more than enough.
I have connected my 7 yr old local speaker as front and listen to music in direct mode for hindi and clasical songs, for hindi/english pop songs prefer sub along with it.
In all, m enjoying my system for 25K (this was the max stretched bugget for me)

Hmmm...just a caution bell ! your room size seems to big for 3300. Especially when you say that u have liking for bass. My room size is 19x11 and at times I feel that sound is not feeling my room. Sorry if I am confusing you more, you could check for 5300 model. If you are limited with finance, no doubt this is the best. Experts can guide you here.
Edit: Also in few of the amazon review, users have mentioned this lacking in 3300.

I called up the dealer in Coimbatore, he said he has this unit in stock rite now.
So iam gonna order it next thursday so that i'll get the unit on saturday morning. He also said will snd a technician along.

Good luck, I think you made a right decision. After spending lot of time on this forum I also found that sony HTIB are not that good
And don't forget to write a review on 3300 once you have received it. I am also planning to buy it and pair it with my WD TV Live (until i get a blu ray player).

Sir,
It is not to confuse Mr.Sabin . I feel that he had an inclination towards Sony which sounds good to music than Onkyo, given the set up as it is , and which falls behind Onkyo on Movie front . Decision making is very difficult .This is my personnel experience having used many of these brands of HTIBs till I knew about this forum. I would have saved a fortune if not I had indulged in purchasing and selling these cheap HTIBs in pursuit of good SQ on movies and music.

Well thats makes things easy. Its really sweet deal that you are getting.
I visited the Sony showroom to checkout the bluray player. Sony BDP-S370 is the one available here. It plays almost all formats, most importantly the .mkv files..Thinking of Pairing this with 3300.

You are ready to spend 23000 + 9000 = 31000 (HTB + BDP ) . my advise is stretch your budget by another Rs.2000. Select an 5.1 AVR from onkyo / YAmaha / Marantz for Rs. 20,000 . You will get Wharfedale 9.1 for approx Rs.9500 and take sony DVD FOR Rs.3000/- approx. Later on you can go for upgradation as and when you have budget.

I listened to the 3200 and was impressed. Can you please pass me the details of the dealer in Coimbatore? I want to buy my speakers from there as I hear that prices are slightly lower than in Bangalore. Not sure though?
