Sony W700A Best Buy?

My 2 cents:

I compared W700 with W800 models (there is only a single model in w700 series which is 46"), and have (almost) reached the decision and its going to be w700!

1. When auditioned we could clearly see the 'soap opera' effect and disliked it very much on higher motion flow models (800 / 9xx)... As somebody rightly said earlier, if one is going to turn it off why pay more for it

2. 85 to 90% of the times we will be watching movies, rather than TV serials or sports etc. so I want that natural movie like feel (possible only without the higher motion flow)

3. I don't need 3D. So I would rather invest in higher screen size and that's why going for 46" w700 rather than 40 or 42 inches model with higher motion flow. (w700 does not have 3D). Will the popularity & availability of 3D material increase even more in next year or two? almost certainly yes.. but it is ok. There will be still LOT of 2d stuff to watch. (Frankly, I don't like watching 3D movies in theatre.. given the quality and shape of goggles one is not disconnected with reality.. its odd.. 2D is always much better PQ in theatres IMHO... at least in India. I don't remember about USA as it was few years back)

4. Yet to compare with equivalent Samsung models but Sony still is THE brand for TVs for me so i will need a very good reason to switch (have been happy with samsung products also .. but my good old sony wega TV is still serving us fantastically.. no issues whatsoever in 8 years)

5. Since its a huge leap, skipping the LCD stage, the colors and PQ was very impressive in the audition (in all sony models).

6. Realized that DVD collection which used to look nice on a small tv looks 'not so good' (!) on LED ... it needs blu ray / HD video (files) to exploit its potential so upgrade in other areas will be necessary soon ! :)

cheers
