Spade connectors

Been looking around for a decent set of spades. I’ve found that they aren’t as commonly accessible as their banana counterparts. And the ones available are stupidly priced.
I could bet my hat that atleast a few years ago (pre-pandemic), they were just as accessible as bananas.

Has anyone else experienced the same? Have they become old fashioned or something?

If anyone has a good source for spades, do post. And yes, I’ve looked at Amazon. The pricing there is ridiculous.

They are ridiculously priced because they are not mainstream. IMO, spades allows you to have tight connections unlike banana plugs where good contact totally depends on the spring action.

This is around Rs 383 per plug

Something like this will be cheaper but will not look as good as the above. One can get the correct size as per the chart.

Agree on the better connection bit. Plus my speakers have Cardas be nding posts which only accept spades. Thanks for those links though. Still expensive compared to bananas.

Bare wire is better than spade ! one tweak i was told is to buy copper O connectors and cut its top to make a spade !

Exactly...bare wire is better than the best banana or spade, just clean the bare wire ends with deoxit once a year. Unless one keeps switching amps or speakers like reviewers, no reason to have any connectors on the speaker cables actually.

Agree, arj. But sometimes you want to play around with cables. Terminations just make that a bit more convenient.
